With a passion for German cars dating back to my younger days in South Africa, I built, modified and raced air cooled Beetles and my hobby soon developed into a career. With over 20 years’ experience in automotive service and repair, half of that time spent at dealership level, I was a diagnostic master technician and then Foreman at New Zealand’s largest Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda dealership. Another update on the little Polo.

We reached the limit of the water to air intercooler pretty quickly so changed to a front mount. A few other small mods and some ethanol blend in the tank and voila!

Big shout out to Ben @ Spectune for helping us more than quadruple the power from the stock 1.2Tsi engine to the current 1.4Tsi😂

We pretty much ran out of the ability to move enough air to significantly increase power so we had to increase the capacity by a whopping 197cc’s😂

With the new “big block” in place, a couple of fuelling mods and some tuning magic from Ben at Spectune, this little ripper is ready for another track day!!

We were growing a bit tired of making easy power with the Golf Gti’s and R’s so we thought we’d set ourselves a “challenge”🤣

We decided to see what we can get out of a 1.2l Polo so challenge accepted!

With some basic bolt-ons and the tiniest hybrid turbo you’ve ever seen, we easily doubled the power.

It’s as impressive as it is hilarious for a 1200cc. Watch this space as there’s more to follow👍
