Bailey is not only a determined young man with a passion for chasing his dreams; he is also inspirational to all the younger generations that are facing adversities. With all that life has sent Bailey and his family, he has time after time risen from the challenges to pursue his dreams. With his sights set on achieving his dreams and thinking ahead for his future, Bailey with the help and support
of his carer, Matt, embarked upon the next stage of his life. With the unwavering love and support from his parents and Matt, Bailey earlier this year opened his own business which is affiliated with his parents business, “Micks Auto Glass”.
“Baileys Wash and Vac” is a car detailing service available for all members of the Bairnsdale and surrounding areas. Bailey prides himself in doing a professional job and is proud to offer a service back to the community. His love of cars; both old and new was the pinnacle of his business idea. Along with his carer Matt, they worked together in finding something they would enjoy doing together, and they set about finding ways to incorporate both his passion and the realism of what Bailey was capable of being able to do. Careful consideration was made to the operations and logistics of the business, to ensure the safety for both Bailey and Matt. Special foam underlay and carpet was laid in case of Bailey falling during a seizure, and helmets are a standard part of Bailey’s uniform. Foam has been placed around walls to lessen the impact of a fall, and wheel chair access is possible for when Bailey is restricted to his chair. Bailey and Matt have chosen environmentally safe products which is important for not only the environment but also the staff and customers cars. Fast forward and today Baileys wash and vac is now operating within the safe and close proximity of his parents’ eyes. One thing Toni and Mick are extremely passionate about is that people with disabilities are treated as equals and given the same opportunities as all members of our community. This opportunity would not have come to fruition had it not been for the support and belief that Matt had in Bailey and his dreams. To see someone who has battled against adversities and still get excited about getting up and going to work every day is what life is all about. Bailey is a hardworking and energetic young man who wants to show the young members of our community that anything is possible. Bailey's continuing success shows that people with disabilities also have dreams, hopes and desires and should be given the opportunities to chase them.
