🚗 What Is a Transmission Cooler?

A transmission cooler is a small heat exchanger, usually mounted in front of your radiator, that helps keep your transmission fluid at a safe operating temperature.

Transmission fluid is the lifeblood of your gearbox. It:
✔ Lubricates internal components
✔ Reduces friction
✔ Transfers power from the engine to the wheels

When you’re towing heavy loads or driving in high-demand conditions, that fluid can overheat, and that’s when problems start.

It’s simple but effective:

• Hot transmission fluid is diverted out of the gearbox
• It passes through cooling tubes and fins
• Airflow removes excess heat
• Cooler fluid returns back into the transmission

This process reduces heat soak and keeps everything operating smoothly, even under serious load.

Your car will usually give you warning signs before a transmission failure . The key is not ignoring them.

Here’s what to look (and feel) for:

⚠️ Slipping Gears
Revs increase but the car doesn’t accelerate properly.

You put it into Drive or Reverse… and there’s a delay before it moves.

While many of us own a car, not all of us are necessarily familiar with automotive mechanics. However, knowing a little bit about how a vehicle works could prove to be very useful when a problem comes up.

One of the main components that make a vehicle function correctly is the transmission. But what exactly does it do and how does it work? Here’s a basic explanation to give you a better idea.

🚘 🛞 ᴍᴏᴍᴇɴᴛᴜᴍ ᴛᴏ ᴍᴏᴠᴇ ꜰᴏʀᴡᴀʀᴅ! 🛞🚘

In general, a transmission includes all of the elements that help transform and convey the rotation of the engine into movement of the drive wheels. The term “transmission” also refers to the part that’s primarily responsible for that function (a component that’s connected to the back of the engine).

Also connected to the gear box, the transmission moves the wheels forward at different speeds or cuts power to them entirely (in neutral) by disengaging them from the engine. It can also reverse the direction of the wheels, allowing the vehicle to back up.
