Certainly one of the less glamorous jobs in Motorsport is fitting the Fuel Tank Foam.

But we’re one step closer to fire up, so it was worth it.

Combined with the new fandangled pickup, the surge problems should be behind us.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks.

Abroad, we spent the weekend at the Sandown Historics with the Brabham BT36. A wet and wild weekend, a massive congratulations must go to Dean, with he and the car punching well above its weight, and not putting a foot wrong all weekend, no matter how much 4th gear disagreed.

Back home, the Spectrum is slowing going back together, with the LD200 Gearbox getting a well-deserved birthday and now looking near-brand-new. As well, the fuel tank pickup had been modified to sort the pesky surge issues the car has always had by utilising a Holley Fuel Mat.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Just in case free beer and a BBQ weren’t enticing enough, we excited to announce that this Brabham BT36 will also be on display this Saturday at the Mattea Motorsport Open Day.

New to Rondel Racing (Ron being Ron Dennis) for 1971, this Brabham BT36, Chassis No. 2, was campaign by future Formula One World Champion Graham Hill.

Presently, we’re lucky enough to look after and run this car at Historic race meetings all over Australia. Thanks to car owner Dean Tighe for the opportunity to display it.

Don’t miss out. This Saturday the 16th of August from 2pm

The team is gearing up for one of the biggest events of the year—the Australian Formula Ford 1600 Nationals! We may head into this weekend with a few unknowns, but that just makes it more exciting!

With our freshly rebuilt powerplant being the first that was completed totally in-house, we look forward to seeing where we stack up against some of the country's best. And if that doesn't work, we've got some more goodies stashed up our sleeve. Months of preparation, planning, and hard work will all come down to this one event.

A huge shoutout to our fans, sponsors, and supporters—your backing fuels us every step of the way! We’ll be pushing to make you proud and bring home that trophy.

📅 Date: 8th - 10th November 2024
📍 Location: Morgan Park Raceway, Warwick
🎟️ Free entry for spectators all weekend long!

Stay tuned for updates!

We’re in the final stages of preparing for the 2024 Australian Formula Ford 1600 Nationals, happening on November 8-10! 🚗💨

After a piston broke in the Spectrum 05c’s Ford Kent engine during the last round at Queensland Raceway in August, we knew we had a tight deadline to rebuild the engine. With less than 3 weeks to go, the new engine is almost complete—just waiting on the sump, tappet cover, and flywheel from suppliers.

The plan is to have the engine in the car by this weekend and get it on the dyno for a test run in the coming days. We want to make sure everything is perfect before we head to Nationals! 🙌

Here’s what’s been done so far:
🔧 New cylinder liners
🔧 New pistons
🔧 New bearings (main, big end, and piston pin)
🔧 New valves and valve springs
🔧 Rebuilt rocker gear
🔧 Rebuilt cylinder head

Everything has been handled either in-house or by our amazing suppliers. Stay tuned for updates as we get ready for race day! 🏁

This weekend, the team head to Bryant Park Hillclimb near Morwell in Victoria where Dean Tighe hopes to clinch the 2024 Australian Hillclimb Championship.

After the conversion to Turbo, the Empire Wraith had been through copious R&D to give the best chance possible of a result, hoping to replicate our 2022 success.

We’ll keep everyone up to date with results as the weekend rolls around. Meanwhile, how good are these shots from from our last visit to Bryant Park in September.
