Renault Clio 1.2L turbo said no boost for you! The customer was told by a workshop chain that the injectors need to be changed. Compliant was the vehicle is running rough and not shifting up. Part of the confusion comes from Renault’s terminology calling the ECM or ECU the injection. Scan tool brought up two DTC’s and processed to check the MAP sensor and cleaned the sensor well in the manifold . A test drive was revealed how bad the situation was and had no power. I found that the turbo isn’t spinning at idle or spooling up when engine rpm is increased.

Hyundai i30: drivers door glass fell into door. Just like most new cars they have have plastic runners that break and the glass falls into the door. This one’s cables bird nested around the window motor drum damaging the drum and cables. Temporary taped window in place while parts are sourced to be continued.

Dodge Journey V6: Leaking engine oil cooler lines change out. Not all V6 Dodge Journeys have an engine oil cooler and the lines are discontinued by MOPAR. They need to be sourced online from someone that ships to Australia.

Nissan Navara: customer suspected timing chain issue. On initial inspection the clicking/slapping that could be heard wasn’t coming from the timing cover but was external to the engine. The alternator was missing a belt and loose. I went through a process of removing belts and starting the engine until the noise was gone. On removal of the alternator belt I could see the issue and started the engine to confirm. Replaced the alternator belt and fitted the second which it was missing. One happy customer that the repair cost a fraction of the cost to replace timing chains.

This week I had the pleasure of working on this LJ Torana. Removed the triple SU’s and fitted and tuned triple Webers. Wasn’t a straight forward swap, had to remove material from the manifold to give the bolts clearance. The supplied linkages wouldn’t lock to length and binding holding the throttle open in the transition circuit causing over fuelling. Stole the linkages from the SU set up to get the LJ running right. Will need to change out the linkages and make a new throttle cable bracket to give a full sweep of the throttle.

Assembled this triple Weber set up. Wasn’t straight forward as one of the manifold threads for the studs was stripped and a thread repair had to be done. Also none of the other threads had been fully tapped to allow the studs to seat correctly, all sorted now. All that is left to do is install them on the LJ Torana, tune and lock all the linkages in place.
