This Saturday, we celebrate 49 years of racing, community and unforgettable moments at Ladbrokes Pioneer Park.

Join us trackside on Saturday 30th May as we mark the Pioneer Park 49th Anniversary Race Day, a celebration of the people, stories and racing spirit that have shaped the Alice Springs Turf Club into the heart of outback racing.

For nearly five decades, locals and visitors alike have gathered here for thrilling finishes, big race-day moments, friendships formed trackside, and the unmistakable atmosphere that only Territory racing can deliver.

This weekend promises another huge afternoon, with seven races on the program including the feature Pioneer Park Anniversary Cup.

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Ladbrokes Alice Springs Cup Carnival. 🏇✨

Five weeks. Five race days. And a whole lot of moments that made this Carnival something special.

The fashion that turned heads. The colour, the creativity, the effort — race day after race day, this community showed up in style.

The racing that had us on the edge of our seats. Big finishes. Big celebrations. And the people behind it all — the horses, jockeys, trainers and teams who bring every race to life.

The atmosphere… that’s what sets this Carnival apart.
Friends catching up, families making memories, long afternoons that rolled into unforgettable nights. The laughter, the music, the energy — it’s what makes a day at the track feel like so much more.

But none of it happens without you.

Before the horses step onto the track, there is someone by their side every step of the way.

That person is the strapper.

Strappers are the quiet achievers of racing. They care for the horses, prepare them for race day, walk them in the mounting yard, and ensure they look and feel their absolute best before the jockey climbs aboard.

But on Cup Day, we like to turn the spotlight onto the people who are usually working behind the scenes.

And this year, Crystal Cooke stepped straight out of the stables and onto the runway in style.

Bringing colour, creativity and plenty of confidence, Crystal was awarded our Best Dressed Strapper and proved that racing fashion is not just reserved for the grandstand.

Congratulations Crystal, and thank you to all of our strappers whose hard work, early mornings and passion help make racing in Alice Springs possible.

From the mounting yard to the winner’s circle, you are an essential part of the story.

When the dust settled across five incredible Carnival race days, one name stood above them all.
Lek Maloney. 2026 Carnival Leading Jockey.

A young Alice Springs apprentice. His home track. His community watching. Here's how he built his title:

On Tradies Day, 11 April, Lek set the tone from the very first Carnival meeting. He guided Kerry Petrick's Dad Bod home in the BT Daley Handicap, then came back later in the day to produce a beautifully timed ride on Venting in the BM76 1600m feature. Two winners on opening day. The Carnival had its frontrunner.

Ladies Day, 18 April and Lek did it again, twice. He steered Bahama Bay to a dominant victory in the Magic Millions BM76 1100m, then returned to salute aboard Rewards And More in The Soldier Lightning 1000m. Four Carnival wins from just two meetings. The title was becoming his own.

ANZAC Day, 25 April brought his biggest stage yet. Lek rode seven horses across the card and saved his best for the feature, going head to head with Wolfburn in the $45,000 Chief Minister's Cup aboard Venting, finishing a courageous second in a race that had the whole crowd on their feet.

And on Cup Day, 4 May, Lek showed exactly what he is made of across a massive nine-race card. He won the Magic Millions Red Centre Classic 1200m aboard Bahama Bay. He went close on Dad Bod in the Rimfire Energy, coming in second. He fought hard on Anphina in the Paul Hassett Memorial placing second again. and gave everything he could on Venting in the Ladbrokes Alice Spring Cup.

Cool, composed and completely at home on the track he grew up watching.
This community has watched Lek grow. In 2026 we watched him arrive.

Competing in the National Apprentice Race Series and winning the Carnival Leading Jockey title on home soil in front of the people who mean the most to him. Congratulations, Lek, we couldn't be prouder.
