This is what a true outback NT adventure looks like.

Filmed in the Davenport Ranges, this rugged section forms part of the legendary Binns Track, an epic 4WD route running from Mount Dare on the SA NT border through to Timber Creek in the Top End.

Think red dirt tracks, wide open skies, remote camps, wildlife, bird watching, fossicking country and landscapes that take you a long way from the crowds.

The Davenport Ranges are made for travellers who want to get off the beaten track and experience a real 4WD adventure through one of the Northern Territory’s lesser known outback regions.

And with a Toyota Hilux 4WD Camper, this is exactly what off road touring in outback NT can look like.

Big skies. Red dirt. Remote tracks. Proper adventure.

There is no better way to see Australia than from a campsite.

The campfire is crackling, the night sky is putting on a show, the stars are brighter than ever, and just when you think you have the place to yourself, one of the locals drops in for dinner.

This cheeky possum clearly had excellent taste and helped itself to a bowl of chips like it had been invited all along.

Luckily, the Tim Tams were safely hidden. Because if it had found those, it would have put a whole new meaning to the term ‘Tim Tam Slam’ 😂.

Camping in Australia is all about the big landscapes, quiet moments, unexpected wildlife encounters and the kind of memories you never really plan for.

Just remember to secure the snacks.

The Flinders Ranges & Arkaroola are looking unreal right now.

After unusual rainfall over the past three months, this ancient outback landscape has transformed into a vivid green wonderland. Bright green hills, deep red rock, huge blue skies and that golden Flinders light are all coming together in the most spectacular way.

The country is full of life. Emus, kangaroos and wildlife everywhere, all looking healthy, strong and thriving after the rain.

And yes, with all that rain comes plenty of mud, puddles and proper 4WD adventure.

This is one of those rare seasons where the outback feels completely alive. If the Flinders Ranges have been on your list, this is the year to go.

Pack the camera, take your time, and get ready for big skies, muddy tracks, red rocks and some of the greenest outback landscapes you will ever see.

The wait is over.

The Gibb River Road is officially open for the 2026 season, and with the full Savannah Way from Broome to Darwin and across to Cairns now open, northern Australia is calling.

This is the ultimate 4WD adventure itinerary.

Start in the Kimberley, where red dirt roads, dusty tracks, ancient gorges and iconic boab trees set the scene for one of Australia’s most legendary drives.

Continue through the Northern Territory for waterfalls, swimming holes, crocodile country, Aboriginal culture, national parks and warm dry season days made for exploring.

Then keep heading east across the Gulf Country towards Tropical North Queensland, where the outback gives way to rainforest, reef, waterfalls and palm lined coastlines.

From Broome to Darwin and all the way to Cairns, the Savannah Way is one of Australia’s greatest overland journeys. Remote, rugged, wild and unforgettable.

We also have relocation specials running across selected one way routes and dates, including some great options along the Savannah Way. Head to the Specials page on our website to see what is currently available.

Ready to take on the Savannah Way or Gibb River Road in a premium 4WD camper?

Anyone can say premium.
What matters is how a 4WD camper actually works when you are out there.

For us, premium means the kind of setup that makes remote travel easier, safer, and a whole lot more comfortable.

Think quick camp setup.
An upright fridge that is easy to access.
A practical kitchen that works properly.
Quality recovery gear.
Long range fuel capacity.
A comfortable rooftop tent.
And equipment that is built for real outback touring, not just for show.

When you are covering big distances and setting up camp day after day, the little details make a big difference.

That is what premium should feel like.

How far should you actually drive in a day on an outback trip?

One of the biggest mistakes people make is trying to pack in too much. In remote Australia, travel days are not just about kilometres. Road conditions, fuel stops, sightseeing, weather, and slower speeds on remote roads all play a part.

A day on sealed roads can look very different from a day on unsealed tracks, especially once you add in stops along the way.

The best trips are usually the ones with a little breathing room. Less rushing, less stress, and more time to enjoy the places you have come all this way to see.

If you are planning a trip and want a second opinion on whether your itinerary is realistic, get in touch with our team.

Good Friday is the perfect reminder to slow your roll.

No shops are open, the world goes a bit quieter, and all of a sudden the simple things feel pretty bloody good.

A good view.
A feed at camp.
A bit of fresh air.
And the freedom to wake up somewhere different.

That is what Easter on the road is all about.

Happy Good Friday from all of us at Adventure Rentals.

Who needs an alarm when the bush has its own surround sound system?

A noisy bird at sunrise beats sirens, barking dogs and traffic every day of the week.

Sleep in? Not likely.
Wake up happy? Absolutely.
