I have tuned Jake’s mint VY clubsport a few times over the years as it has evolved.

After persisting with a 5.3 for a while, trying a few different turbo combos etc this latest combo is looking and sounding really good!

He’s yeeted the 5.3 out and built his own LS3 headed 6 litre iron block engine with a yourmiles g57 turbo and has even built/fabricated his own intercooler using a Garrett core.

The standard ecu has also made way for a Haltech Nexus R3 ecu, ic7 dash, haltech ign-1 coils and a full loom etc.

Jake already had it fairly well set up and running so we stuck it on the dyno, finished the nexus set up with a solid base map and got to dialling it in.

Making easy power we found the limit of the converter pretty quickly so we ended up keeping the tune conservative though 1236hp at the hubs through the power glide and 9” is plenty!

We had Gary’s Whipple blown Dark Horse mustang in this week to remove the standard 2 1/4” centre pipes from the exhaust, fabricate 3” sections, fit a smaller blower pulley and stretch its legs on the dyno to see what it would make!

Tough looking mustang making a staunch 1028hp to the hubs at 8100rpm 💪

LS Tuning and Performance will reopen for business on Tuesday 20’th of January.

To clarify to those that saw we had a message on the page with an alternative number to call it was for a small handfull of customers that had pre Summernats tunes booked in last Friday and Monday only after i had sustained a fairly serious head injury and ended up in hospital for a few days.

Unfortunately late on New Year’s Day one of our horses spooked and I was kicked in the back of the head/neck. Although it was quite a stressful incident for my wife and our boys, as bad as it is it could very easily been much worse! I have been cleared of a broken neck or skull fracture and am now taking it extremely easy while I recover at home.

At this stage we will be good to reopen on the 20’th as planned. If you have an enquiry, leave a message and we will get back to everyone then.

With an insanely busy finish to the year we had planned to finish up on the 19’th of December.

Unfortunately i ended up working right up to Christmas Eve to get some cars out but it had to be done to make sure we hit the ground running on the 20’th!

One of the last jobs out the door was this FG Ute that came in for a substantial power up package.

Billet oil pump gears and plate
Atomic timing set
Valve springs
Pair of standard replacement Crow cams
1250cc injectors
Adjustable fuel pressure reg
Process west cooler kit
Pulsar 3584 turbo with external gated housing
Turbosmart 45mm watergate
Flex fuel kit
Walbro 525lph intank pump
Liquid to air trans cooler with fan
Battery relocation
Full 4” turbo back exhaust
4” airbox
Gj Drivelines 2 piece HD tailshaft

With all the bolt ons fitted up Sam Gordomotive Electrical sorted some wiring and it was ready to fire up.

It had been tuned previously and locked but with Pcmtec we flashed it back to stock, got a base map loaded in and fired it up. Warmed up, fluid levels checked then on to the dyno for a full flex tune.

Impressive results making 428kw on 16psi running 98 then scaling in the ethanol saw a healthy 508kw at the hubs @50% ethanol at 21psi 💪

MRRIG in the shop today for a tune with the new Haltech Nexus Rebel ECU and Uc-10 dash installed!

Previously set up with a cable throttle body and LS1 ecu it made reasonable power running 15psi and E85 full time. It was good for wicked wheel stands on the street and low 11 second passes at the track however Benn is looking to push it a little faster at the track.

Now with flex fuel, closed loop boost and fuel control, DBW throttle etc we can safely push the combo a little harder whilst implementing some practical power management strategies to keep the front wheels down and the big cruiser moving forward!

With a max of 56% ethanol content in the tank we didn’t want to push it too hard but 825hp at the hubs through a T400 on 17psi is decent grunt 💪

Big thank you to Harrop Engineering for hosting us at the dealer conference last week!

Was great to catch up with the Harrop Team and fellow dealers from all over the country whilst having a look at some of the product development Harrop have been working hard on!

Brian Tooley gave a great presentation/tech talk on what goes into the BTR camshaft range development which was especially interesting given the excellent results we see using BTR camshafts in most of our shop builds!

Nearly 1000hp to the hubs on 98 👀

Fitted with a NVE 427 Dart blocked bottom end, Higgins 6 bolt heads and a Harrop 2650 blower combo with an interchiller set up this manual VE Ute is making good grunt!

The owner had been having some issues with fouling plugs, misfires and driveability issues so he brought it in for a tune.

We cleaned up the 10:1 afr’s and fitted a fresh set of plugs picking up a 200hp and a heap of torque. With 19psi the tuning window was tight and it was super touchy with timing. E85 would see big gains!
