Loving what we do. Client Danny's first drive home in his newly modified Sprinter Van. Drive from wheel chair, Four Way Joystick Steer, Brake, Accelerate, Voice Command for indicators, wipers etc. A huge thank you to Danny's "make it happen" support team near and far including Nicole, Leanne, Willshire Mobility, Total Ability and many more. The Smiles Say It All!

Having fun in the workshop today putting finishing touches to a foot guide. This for one of my left side accelerator clients. She drives perfectly with this guide in place. Never puts a foot wrong :-)
All fitted up now. Just needs a quick coat of paint. Love doing this stuff. Next step will be return to driving OT Assessment then have a Vehicle Modifier fit left side accelerator and permanent foot guide in the client's car.

Getting creative with double sided tape and the Total Ability High Level Training & Assessment Vehicle in Tasmania. This creation will put client Lucas in full control of Indicators, Wipers etc plus allow him to switch his Traffic Observation Camera viewing angles.

Massive week this week for our OT Driving intensive at Flinders University! This is the week when we consolidate 12 weeks of online content into 1 week of demonstration, practice and then see actual clients for assessment. It’s intense learning but the OTs all did so well and we achieved some great outcomes with our clients. Feeling all the feels and like a proud Mum in a way!

It’s also a lot of coordination with something like 14 OTs, 14 clients, 6 supervising OTs, 7 driving instructors, 4 modifiers and 1 extremely tired lecturer/coordinator!

Super grateful to best people I know that help make this happen and contribute so much value including Lloyd Townsend, Natalya Meiring, Alison Dermody, Mark Fraser from Drive Smart Driving School Adelaide, Brad Williams from Williams Occupational Therapy, Stacey George and others including Nicki Hayball, Caitlin Ahmad, Bryan Renfors from Force Driving School, Rob Garard, Stephen Palmer from Team Driver Training and Sonia Guliani. I appreciate each and everyone of you for your time and support personally and professionally. And a shout out to Total Ability for some resources to support our vehicle mods teaching along Daniel Wallace from Willshire Mobility and Mardi Badcock from Brazier Mobility.

PS. As an aside, in true nerd fashion I came up with a new/revised model of outcomes of OT Driver Assessment 😂 Look out for this in an upcoming conference paper or poster in the fiture 😂
