From Monday, 19 May, you must slow down to 25 km/h when passing a stationary breakdown
service vehicle with flashing amber lights.
Infrastructure and Transport is introducing this law to improve safety of breakdown
service workers as well as motorists and passengers waiting at the roadside.
Breakdown service vehicles include tow trucks, vans and other vehicles with flashing amber
lights providing roadside assistance.

Remember, as a safe and competent driver, you need to know all the rules, otherwise bad habits creep in. My theory is - how can I drive to make it easy and safer for other road users around me? Signalling intentions are a very high priority. When turning left at a intersection, moving to the left and using the left indicator is a great help. When turning right, moving to the centre of the road and square to the road, helps others to pass on the left. When changing lanes, indicate your intention in advance of commencing to do so. Letting people in gives you a good feeling and the cheery wave and smile you receive is a great reward. Let's hope the kind action snowballs.
