🔥 Heat, scrape, repeat 🔥

Another insurance job in the workshop, with another van sporting a damaged side after a little accident. 😬 It happens to the best of us!

Removing hatches and components from the side of the van so we can get proper access and repair the damage properly.

A bit of heat, a lot of scraping, and plenty of patience , and we’ll have this one looking good as new again! 💪🔧

🚐 3 Reasons NOT to DIY Your Caravan Roof Reseal

What should have been a simple repair can quickly become “repairing the repair you already repaired!” 😳

1️⃣ You might seal the problem in, not fix it 💧
If water has already got underneath the sealant, simply adding more silicone over the top won’t solve the problem. Moisture can continue damaging the timber, insulation and internal structure.

2️⃣ The wrong sealant or tape can create MORE work 💸
Using the wrong product, or applying way too much, can turn a simple reseal into a labour-intensive job. Removing excessive sealant and tape takes time and more labour means more hours, which means more money.

3️⃣ Preparation is EVERYTHING 🔧
A proper reseal isn’t just removing old sealant and putting new stuff over it. The old sealant needs to be correctly removed, the surfaces properly prepared and the right areas sealed using the correct application technique.

🍷Mike Griggs was honored as a past President at the 50th Celebration of the Caravan and Camping Industry awards. The event was held at the beautiful Coopers Brewery.

Mike joined the other past Board Presidents on stage and welcomed two new Life Members.

Standing by his side is his lovely wife Dot Griggs, unfortunately Jen and Heath Tiver were unable to attend the event but carry on the legacy at Caravan Crash and Service.

Congratulations Mike for your contribution to the industry for over 53 years.👌

😂 OH BRETT… HOW DID YOU DRAW THE SHORT STRAW AGAIN?!

There’s always one job that requires someone to squeeze into a space that was definitely not designed for a human being! 😂

And today… poor Brett drew the short straw. 😳🔧

Sometimes getting the job done means twisting, turning, crawling and squeezing into the tightest spots imaginable because unfortunately, caravans don’t always come with easy access! 🚐🤣

But when the job needs to be done properly, you do what you have to do…

Even if that means Brett getting himself into positions he probably won’t be able to explain later! 😂

🚐 THIS IS HOW YOU PUT A CARAVAN ROOF TOGETHER!

It might look simple, but there’s a lot more to putting a caravan roof together than meets the eye.

First, we lay everything out, then carefully slot each panel together, making sure every connection is correctly aligned and secure.

It’s a one-panel-at-a-time process, with every join checked before moving on to the next.

Getting it right at this stage is critical because once the roof is together, every connection, join and seal needs to be right from the start. 🔧

This is all about taking the time to do it properly. Measure, line it up, connect it, check it then move to the next panel.

Because when it comes to keeping the water OUT… there’s no room for shortcuts! 💧🚐

🌧️ YOUR CARAVAN MIGHT BE LEAKING WITHOUT YOU KNOWING IT

First, the mouldy infill had to be removed… and once we opened it up, we found the timber frame underneath was wet and rotten. 😳🚐

This is exactly why finding water ingress early is so important. What might start as a small leak can turn into mould, timber rot and major structural repairs if left unchecked.
