STATEMENT BY THE YOUTH MOVEMENT FOR POSITIVE CHANGE ZAMBIA (YMPCZ)
ON THE TRAGIC KILLING OF A ZAMBIAN IN TANZANIA

The Youth Movement for Positive Change Zambia (YMPCZ) is deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic killing of a fellow Zambian in Tanzania.

We strongly condemn this senseless act of violence. The loss of any Zambian life, especially under such circumstances, is unacceptable and heartbreaking. As a nation that upholds peace, unity, and human dignity, we believe that every Zambian—regardless of where they are—deserves safety, respect, and protection.

We call upon the authorities in Tanzania to conduct a swift, transparent, and thorough investigation into this matter and ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice. Justice must not only be done, but must be seen to be done.

We also urge the Government of Zambia to actively engage their counterparts in Tanzania to ensure that the rights and safety of Zambian citizens living, working, or traveling abroad are safeguarded at all times.

As YMPCZ, we stand in solidarity with the bereaved family during this difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences and call for calm as due processes take place.

This tragic incident reminds us of the importance of strengthening regional cooperation, protecting human rights, and promoting peaceful coexistence among African nations.

No Zambian life should be lost in vain.

🚨 ATTENTION ZAMBIA 🇿🇲 – SANITATION CRISIS AT UNZA 🚨

What’s happening at the University of Zambia (UNZA) is unacceptable. Our students deserve clean, safe, and dignified living conditions — not a health hazard! 💔

Hostels without proper sanitation are putting lives at risk. This is not just about discomfort… it’s about public health, student welfare, and respect for our future leaders.

As YMPCZ, we say:
👉 Enough is enough!
👉 Immediate action must be taken!
👉 Authorities must prioritize student sanitation NOW!

We call on all stakeholders to act urgently and restore dignity at UNZA. Students must learn in a safe environment — not survive in one.

📢 Zambia, let’s speak up!

YMPCZ PRESS STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’S ADDRESS AT THE PRESIDENTIAL DELIVERY UNIT

31st March 2026.

The Youth Movement for Positive Change Zambia (YMPCZ) has taken note of the recent remarks by Hakainde Hichilema delivered during his engagement with the Presidential Delivery Unit.

As a youth-led organization committed to national development, accountability, and inclusive governance, YMPCZ acknowledges the outlined progress and future ambitions highlighted by the Head of State.

We particularly note the government’s aspiration to double Zambia’s economy by August 2026. While this ambition reflects strong intent, YMPCZ emphasizes the importance of ensuring that such economic growth translates into tangible benefits for ordinary Zambians, especially the youth who continue to face high levels of unemployment and limited access to economic opportunities.

On institutional reforms, we recognize the establishment of the Presidential Delivery Unit as a step toward improving efficiency in public service delivery. However, we urge government to ensure that these reforms are felt at grassroots level, where service delivery gaps remain a daily challenge for many citizens.

Regarding investments in key sectors such as energy and mining, including developments involving Copperbelt Energy Corporation and ZCCM-Investment Holdings, YMPCZ calls for greater transparency, youth participation, and local empowerment in these sectors. Zambia’s natural resources must directly contribute to job creation and sustainable livelihoods for young people.

On agriculture, the projected increase in maize production is commendable. YMPCZ encourages government to move beyond production targets and prioritize value addition, agro-processing, and market access, particularly for young farmers and cooperatives across the country.

We further acknowledge the strides made in social sectors, including increased social cash transfers, the return of learners to school, and the recruitment of health workers. These efforts are vital, and we urge government to ensure their consistency, sustainability, and equitable distribution.

As the country approaches the general elections scheduled for August 13, 2026, YMPCZ welcomes the President’s commitment to peaceful and credible elections. We stress that youth inclusion, transparency, and fairness must remain central to the electoral process. Zambia’s democracy must continue to serve as a model of stability in the region.

Conclusion

YMPCZ remains committed to constructive engagement with government and all stakeholders. We will continue to advocate for policies that prioritize youth empowerment, economic inclusion, and accountable leadership.

The future of Zambia lies in the meaningful participation of its young people, and we call upon leadership at all levels to ensure that no youth is left behind.

Today as Youth Movement for Positive Change Zambia we honored an invitation by attending The Presidential Delivery Unit convened National Delivery Day in Lusaka, that brought together government ministries and agencies to present progress across all presidential priority areas under the theme: Delivering for the People — From Commitments to Results.

This saw President Hichilema deliver keynote address, where he was clear about who this government works for:

Saying that reforms government pursues is not for cooperating partners yet for Zambians."

Results presented today spanned agriculture, mining, health, energy and education, from Zambia's highest ever maize harvest to record copper production, drug availability more than doubled, and rural electrification quadrupled since 2022.

As Youth Movement for Positive Change Zambia we appreciate the invitation extended to us.

Today, we honor one of Zambia’s most iconic and breathtaking traditions — the Kuomboka Ceremony of the Lozi people.

Kuomboka, meaning “to get out of water,” marks the annual movement of the Litunga, the King of Barotseland, from the flooded plains of the Zambezi to higher ground. It is not just a journey — it is a powerful symbol of resilience, unity, and cultural pride. 🇿🇲

The majestic Nalikwanda barge, the rhythm of drums, traditional attire, and the spirit of the people all come together to tell a story that has been passed down through generations.

As we celebrate this great ceremony, let us embrace our heritage, respect our traditions, and continue to preserve the rich cultural identity that defines us as Zambians.

✨ Our culture is our pride. Our traditions are our strength. ✨

Youth Movement for Positive Change Zambia (YMPCZ)
Official Position on 10-Year Tax Holidays for Foreign Companies

As YMPCZ, we acknowledge the intention by the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) to attract foreign direct investment through incentives such as 10-year tax holidays. Investment is critical for job creation, industrial growth, and economic expansion. However, this policy raises serious concerns that must be addressed in the interest of fairness, sustainability, and national development.

Firstly, equity must be upheld. Granting extended tax holidays to foreign companies while local businesses continue to operate under full tax obligations creates an uneven playing field. Zambian entrepreneurs—especially youth-led enterprises—are already facing limited access to capital, high operating costs, and regulatory barriers. Such policies risk sidelining local participation in our own economy.

Secondly, value for Zambia must be clear and measurable. Tax holidays should not be blanket incentives. They must be tied to strict conditions such as:
• Job creation for Zambians
• Skills and technology transfer
• Local supply chain inclusion
• Infrastructure development

Without these safeguards, Zambia risks losing revenue without meaningful long-term benefits.

Thirdly, transparency and accountability are essential. The public deserves to know:
• Which companies are benefiting
• What commitments they have made
• Whether those commitments are being fulfilled

Finally, as a youth-driven movement, we strongly believe that local investment deserves equal, if not greater, support. If tax incentives are available to foreign investors, similar or better frameworks must be extended to empower Zambian youth and SMEs.

Our Position:
We are not against foreign investment—but we advocate for fair, strategic, and balanced policies that prioritize national interest, empower local businesses, and ensure Zambia truly benefits from its resources.

🇿🇲 WHAT ZAMBIAN YOUTHS WANT IN A 2026 PRESIDENT 🇿🇲

As we head towards 2026, one thing is clear — Zambian youths are no longer just listening… we are watching, analyzing, and deciding.

Here’s what matters most to us:

🔹 Jobs & Opportunities
We want real jobs, not promises. Support for businesses, skills, and innovation must be a priority.

🔹 Lower Cost of Living
Life is expensive. Food, fuel, rent — everything is going up. We need leaders who understand our daily struggles.

🔹 Real Youth Empowerment
Not just during campaigns. Include us in decision-making. Trust us with leadership roles.

🔹 Education That Works
Degrees must lead to jobs. Skills, entrepreneurship, and practical training are key.

🔹 Honest & Accountable Leadership
No to corruption. We want transparency, integrity, and leaders who deliver.

🔹 Better Services
Health, water, roads, electricity — development must be seen and felt.

🔹 Modern & Accessible Leadership
Engage us. Speak our language. Be present.

🔹 Peace & Democracy
We want a Zambia where our voices are respected and our future is protected.

💬 Zambian youths are not asking for too much — we are asking for what matters.

2026 is not about popularity.
It’s about solutions, action, and the future of our country.
