YOUTH DAY COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AT MILLENNIUM PARK

The President of OTM Political Party and Mayoral Candidate for Mogalakwena Local Municipality, Victor Mokonyane, was invited by residents of Millennium Park outside Mokopane to join them in commemorating Youth Day and to listen to the challenges facing their community.

During the engagement, community members raised concerns about unemployment, lack of development, and the continued exclusion of local residents from economic opportunities. Residents expressed frustration that despite living next to Valterra Platinum Mine, many young people and community members remain unemployed.

In response to these challenges and as part of his commitment to youth empowerment, Victor Mokonyane announced that he will sponsor 8 disadvantaged and unemployed residents through his Driver's License Programme, providing them with an opportunity to improve their chances of securing employment.

Community members expressed their appreciation, stating that this was the first Youth Day celebration where they felt heard, valued, and recognised by a political leader.

OTM Political Party remains committed to creating opportunities, fighting for local economic participation, and ensuring that communities benefit from the resources found in their own areas.

During the site visit conducted by the President of the OTM Political Party, Victor Mokonyane, several concerns were raised by community members regarding infrastructure projects in the area.

One of the service providers, Mr. Alfred Maputla of Lesodi Motlana, trading under SEPGEO (Pty) Ltd, alleged that he was not paid for work rendered and that his contract with the Department of Public Works was terminated unlawfully.

Mr. Maputla further expressed concerns about the quality of the bridge construction, alleging that substandard materials were used during the project. He also claimed that the bridge is too narrow, allowing only one vehicle to pass at a time, which may pose challenges for traffic flow and public safety.

The OTM Political Party calls on the relevant authorities to investigate these allegations and provide clarity to the affected parties and the community. Residents deserve transparency, accountability, and infrastructure that meets acceptable safety and quality standards.
