YOUR TRAILER GETS SEEN. DOES YOUR BUSINESS? 👀

Outside a customer’s property. At a supplier. Parked next to a job site. Your work trailer can spend a lot of time in places where people notice it.

But what do they actually learn about your business when they look?

A large logo is a good start. Clear, useful information gives someone a better chance of understanding what you do and knowing how to contact you.

Before adding new stickers or refreshing existing branding, give your trailer this four-point check:

🔴 Can people read the business name?
Choose lettering that is easy to recognise. Fancy detail can look attractive close up, but the name still needs to make sense when someone steps back.

🔴 Is it clear what you do?
A short description can help someone who has never heard of you. Give your main service room to stand out instead of squeezing your whole business brochure onto one panel.

🔴 Are the contact details correct and easy to find?
Check every digit and letter before the stickers go on. Then look at the layout: is the telephone number prominent enough, and are the website or other details readable?

🔴 Does the lettering stand out against the trailer?
Think about contrast, spacing and where the information sits. Panel joins, handles and open doors can interrupt a design. Keep lights, reflectors and the number plate clear.

Here’s a simple test: park safely, stand back and ask someone unfamiliar with your business what they can read at a glance. Their answer may tell you more than another close-up look at the design.

SMALL CRACK IN YOUR TRAILER’S FIBREGLASS? TAKE A CLOSER LOOK. 🔎

You spot a little crack near a fitting, wipe away the dust and think, “I’ll sort that out when I have time.”

It’s an easy thing to put off. But before you paint over it or carry on using the trailer as usual, it helps to understand what you’re looking at.

A mark in the outer finish and a crack that reaches into the fibreglass underneath may need different repair work. Size alone does not tell you the full story.

If your trailer has a fibreglass body, here are four useful things to notice:

🔴 Cracks and chips
Look for fine lines, chipped edges and exposed material. A crack that branches out or keeps returning after a previous repair deserves attention.

🔴 The area around fittings
Take a closer look around hinges, catches, handles and mounting points. Note whether the fitting looks loose or whether the surrounding surface has changed. Avoid pulling or forcing a damaged area to “test” it.

🔴 Changes over time
Take a clear photograph, including a wider shot that shows where the damage is. If the crack changes or spreads, that record gives you something useful to compare.

🔴 Signs of leaks
After rain or washing, notice any damp patches inside. Check nearby joints and openings too, rather than assuming the visible crack is the only possible source.

These observations are a starting point. They can help you explain the problem, but the repair needed depends on the actual damage. If a panel is loose or a fitting feels insecure, get advice before towing again.

Your trailer tyres can look fine and still be unsafe: what owners should check before the next trip.

**YOUR TRAILER TYRES CAN LOOK FINE — AND STILL BE UNSAFE. 🛞**

A quick glance before you leave is a good habit, but it does not always tell the whole story. Trailer tyres often spend long periods standing still, exposed to sun, weather and changing loads. That means a tyre can still have tread and appear usable while showing warning signs elsewhere.

Before your next trip, slow down and check a little more closely:

🔴 **Look at the sidewalls.** Fine cracks, bulges, cuts or areas that look perished deserve attention. Check both the outer and inner side where possible—not only the part that is easiest to see.

🔴 **Consider the tyre’s age.** Low mileage does not automatically mean a young or healthy tyre. Find the tyre’s date marking and, if you are unsure how to read it or whether its condition is acceptable, ask a reputable tyre professional.

🔴 **Watch for uneven wear.** One edge wearing faster than the other, flat spots or unusual tread wear can be a clue that something needs to be investigated before the trailer is loaded and taken onto the road.

🔴 **Check the pressure for the trailer and its load.** Do not rely on appearance alone. Use a reliable gauge and follow the tyre and trailer manufacturer’s guidance. The right pressure may depend on the tyre specification and the load being carried.

🔴 **Look for embedded damage.** Nails, screws, stones, cuts and other damage can be easy to miss, especially when the affected section is close to the ground.

🔴 **Do not forget the spare.** A spare that has been ignored for months—or years—may not be ready when you need it. Check its condition, pressure and accessibility, and make sure the equipment needed to change a wheel is present and suitable.
