In South Africa, the top-selling car colours are predominantly neutral shades. White is the clear winner, making up 47% of all enquiries, followed by Silver at 17%, and Grey at 12%. These colours are popular due to their timeless appeal, ease of maintenance, and higher resale value.

Interestingly, the popularity of white cars in SA is consistent with global trends. According to the BASF Color Report, white was the most popular car colour globally, making up 36% of all vehicles produced. ๐
Some studies suggest that less common colours like yellow, orange, and green can also retain their value better than expected, due to their scarcity.
In terms of insurance premiums, the colour of your car can also play a role. Insurers consider the visibility of the car on the road, with lighter colours like white being less expensive to insure than darker colours like black.
