I think this is an incredible shot, not only is it a true 'ploughman's lunch' but also a fantastic time grab of our past. So much to see in here. For me the main one is how big was this field? At least three plough teams here. The horse with nose bags on - they were having lunch too.

The clothing of the men, most wearing leather gaiters, four wearing flat caps, the one with hat - was he the boss? What is in the bottle of the man on the left? No hedge, a handover from the medieval open field system?

Just stunning.

Today’s jobs are a) keeping out of the sun and staying in the cool workshop of the boathouse with George and b) taking advantage of the off-cuts of wood the crt left for us following the repairs last month - to make planters for the moorings and to re-home Susie’s seedlings… which are doing ok on the patio but really need to be moved now - so we can replace them with customers 😃

At the end of last year we got dredged 😃 After discovering the banking was in a worse state than previously thought, the CRT- Canal & River Trust (Canal & River Trust Boating ) returned earlier this year to repair it. So now when we eventually reopen The Galley, and you can sit relaxing in the sunshine overlooking the water, you’ll be able to appreciate all the hard work that’s gone into maintaining this stretch of the canal 😁 we certainly do!

At the end of last year we got dredged here at Swillbrook 😃 After discovering the banking was in a worse state of repair than previously thought - the Canal & River Trust came back earlier this year, and also repaired the mooring in front of The Galley 😃😃😃 so now when we eventually reopen and you get to sit by the side of the water, relaxing in the sunshine, you can appreciate all their hard work maintaining this stretch of the Lancaster - we certainly do! 😊 Canal & River Trust Boating

She's here. She's ready. She's fabulous**

After a lot of hard work, our very first holiday hire narrowboat is officially registered, licensed and ready to go — and we couldn't be more excited!

She does have a name… but we're keeping that a secret for now 🤫 Head over to the website to find out and take a look around — we think you'll be impressed.

This weekend is the official naming ceremony, with a bottle of Taittinger at the ready (Susie's words: "there won't be much of *that* going over the bow" 😄).

Not long after midnight and another head-on collision on the bridge - police at scene. Road closed until tow trucks take the vehicles away. No-one hurt. Fortunately bridge not damaged this time but you all really need to slow down before this goes much much worse for someone!
