GSMTR 35’ dust has settled, but the adrenaline is definitely still pumping.

Event is officially in the books, and man, what an unbelievable week in the mountains.
When you gather hundreds of Land Cruisers and Toyotas in one place, you know it’s going to be legendary. But this year, the energy was next level.
From the second we rolled into the trails, the vibe was pure community. Spotting each other on the rocks, sharing stories around the campfires, and watching built rigs do what they do best. It’s the people that make this event what it is every single year.

A massive shoutout to the organizers, the incredible sponsors who keep this community thriving, and every single person who stopped by to talk shop, check out the rigs, or share a laugh.

We put our Yotas to the test on some of Tennessee’s finest trails, and they did not disappoint. Returning home with dirty trucks, tired bodies, and a ton of unforgettable memories.

The GSMTR prep on this 1991 FJ80 is officially complete.

A full year of steady progress wrapped up into one unstoppable trail rig.
From 4.88 gears and 3:1:1 reduction to dual ARB lockers, full Dobinsons suspension, and a complete mechanical and drivetrain overhaul from the knuckles to the fuel injectors.
This truck is built to survive anything the mountains throw at it. Slowly, but surely.

• ARB Front & Rear Lockers + ARB Dual Air Compressor.
• 4.88 Gearing + 3:1:1 T-Case Reduction Gears.
• Firestone M/T2 315s on Nomad 505 Wheels.
• Bellfab Front Bumper, White Knuckle Sliders and Bowfin Cruisers roof rack.
• ⁠Dobinsons suspension.
• ⁠Safari AirMax Snorkel.
• Complete knuckle, Birfields, axles service and brake overhaul.
• ⁠Engine and drivetrain gone thru. EGR delete, coolant system refresh, UJoints + Tie rod ends, etc etc etc.

After a full mechanical baseline and an interior refresh, it was time to let the exterior do the talking.

The shop crew is getting ready for another run.
Our weapons of choice:

•1997 Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ80
-We cleaned up the undercarriage, torque everything down, completed our new Dinitrol service and admired how good she looks. Checked out fluids, and give her the thumbs up.
She is our trail queen but don’t let a pretty face confuse you, She’ll eat those black trails for breakfast.

•2001 Toyota Land Cruiser UZJ100
-Our latest shop build. This is my wife favorite Cruiser; She missed her 2000 and decided another one needed to be on the stable. PerryParts new Gen bump stops, Sumo 3.1.1 gearing, TCase rebuild, Dinitrol undercarriage services and full review for party time. She’s getting more stuff done the next couple of days, some spicy things coming.

•2017 Toyota Land Cruiser URJ200.
Our daily adventure vehicle. As you saw, new shiny billet Dobinsons rear lower control arms, full review and torque on the front Tundra swap after 10k miles and Dinitrol undercarriage treatment.

Built for the miles.
Prepared for the mud, rain, rocks, and everything GSMTR throws at us.

1997 Lexus LX450 FZJ80

This LX came into our hands needing patience, attention, and love.
Luckily that’s what we do best.

From the head gasket up, this Cruiser received the care it deserved to bring it back to the luxury vehicle it was always meant to be.

• Head machined & head gasket replaced
• Cooling system overhauled
• Complete brake system refresh
• Undercarriage degreased, cleaned, and treated for 30 more years of use where she is needed the most
• Drivetrain components refreshed and updated
• New fluids and suspension bushings throughout

And let’s talk about that Chocolate interior…

All 3 rows reupholstered in Chocolate marine leather, paired with ultra plush carpeting, sound deadening and heat insulation throughout the cabin.

She drives, feels, and looks the way a proper LX450 should. In 2026.

1994 HDJ81 1HD-T

Remember that 80 Series we showed you Tuesday?
The one that rolled in full of potential but in need of some serious mechanical love?
Well, the wrenching is done, the fluids are topped, mods completed and she has officially left the operating table.

•The 1HD-T is breathing easy and running cooler than ever. Between the fresh Aisin timing kit from , the peace of mind OEM Molly coated BEBs, and a completely overhauled cooling system, she purrs like a kitty!

•Can’t forget water crossing in Florida! snorkel outfitted.

•4.88 Gears paired with Eaton ELockers from the wizards at . She’s ready to conquer whatever the trail throws at her.

•Sitting perfectly on that full Dobinsons IMS suspension and brought perfectly into spec with Delta VS front control arms.
The ride quality? Absolute butter.

•Still need to look cool and add protection for the trails right? That’s where the Front bull bar comes in with the ComeUp winch. Aux lamps to light up the way as well.

This girl didn’t just get fixed; she got the full Tampa Cruisers attention.

1994 HDJ81 1HD-T

When this 80 Series rolled into the shop, it was full of potential but in serious need of some mechanical care.
The 1HD-T is an absolute masterpiece, but even legends require meticulous preventative maintenance and the right upgrades to perform like the Toyota Gods aim to.

On the Engine bay:
•Cooling system overhaul : from Radiator to water pump, heater valve to hoses and clamps, fresh fluid = fresh Cruiser.
•Big End Bearings (BEB): Replaced the BEB for 1HD-T peace of mind, we went with OEM Molly coated bearings .
•Aisin Timing Belt Kit: No better kit for our rigs, straight from !.
•Hose Refresh: Can’t trust these Ho(s)es! Brand new engine bay coolant hoses, intake hoses, and turbo hoses with fresh clamps.
•Fluids & Filters: Full fluid flush, plus a transmission drain and fill with new plugs and washers. Filters replaced and some nice additives added.
•Some nice shiny components: New A/C condenser, power steering hoses, and upgraded battery + terminals.

Drivetrain & Axles also went thru some work.
•Axle Rebuilds: Complete front and rear axle overhaul, including all-new brakes and bearings, Slee Extended SS brake lines.
•ReGear & Lockers: Upgraded to 4.88 Gears paired with Eaton E-Lockers. Some magic from !
•Driveline: Fresh UJoints installed all around and shaft balanced.

Now to the fun part, the suspension alongside components to bring her center of gravity back to spec!
•Dobinsons IMS: Full suspension upgrade including IMS shocks (noticed We love these shocks don’t We?), variable springs, and Panhard bars for a dialed in ride.
•Geometry & Control: Delta VS front control arms and Dobinsons sway bar spacers.
•Steering Refresh: New tie rod ends, plus sway bar bushings and links.

This girl didn’t know what was coming for her, nothing but love from our Tampa Cruisers team!
