What a day mehn, what a day!
Today around midday, the driver of PO1552 decided to overtake me while driving westward approaching save the seed area.
In his attempt to overtake he tried to fit himself Infront of me too quickly due to a incoming blue vehicle heading towards road town. In doing this it caused me to have to swerve to the left almost to the edge of the road and come to a stop, Even with this effort he still caused damage to my car.
When this occurred I honked my horn trying to get him to stop but he didn't so I followed and that's when the picture attached was taken.
I then went ahead and overtake him to get his attention and stop him. I opened my door to exit the car so that I can confront him about the damage, however he put his car in reverse and try to drive off ignoring the situation so I drove off to avoid holding up the traffic.
To this driver, just so that you are aware, a police report will be filed and the matter will be handled by the relevant authorities.
Had I not swerved, what would have been the damage done to the car or either of us? This is my livelihood.
Or WORST, what if there was a student learning to drive? It is notable that the Learner Driver Sticker was on the back on my car. Please make better decisions on the road!
To anyone who ever experience any incidents like this do not panic. If the person decides to keep driving, ensure that you are able to make note of the license plate and file a formal report at the police station (bonus if you have a dashcam)
Lesson of the day!
When overtaking someone, treat it as a moving obstruction.
Indicate to let the person infront and behind know that you intent to overtake (indicate right), look to see if there's incoming traffic and whether it gives you enough time to safely overtake someone and go back into your lane. And don't forget to honk your horn and indicate back into your lane (indicate left).
Stay safe on the roads everyone!
