🏎️ WHO IS THE TRUE KING OF THE WRC? 👑

If we're talking about absolute dominance in the history of rallying, there are two names that have rewritten the record books. But today we're going to answer the million-dollar question: Which driver has the most wins in history?

The short answer is: Sébastien Loeb. 🇫🇷
Here are the facts that show why these two Frenchmen are in a league of their own:

🏆 Sébastien Loeb (The "Alien")

Wins: He holds the all-time record with 80 wins in the World Rally Championship.

World Titles: 9 consecutive titles (2004-2012).

Fun Fact: He won 79 of those wins with the same team (Citroën)! 🥈 Sébastien Ogier (The current "Maestro")

Victories: He remains very close with 68 total victories.

World Titles: He ties with Loeb for the most historical titles with 9 world championships (the last one obtained in 2015).

Recent Feat: So far in 2016, he has already achieved a historic victory at the Rally Islas Canarias.

📊 THE TOP 5 OF HISTORIC VICTORIES:

1) Sébastien Loeb: 80 victories.

2) Sébastien Ogier: 68 victories.

3) Marcus Grönholm: 30 victories.

4) Carlos Sainz: 26 victories.

5) Colin McRae: 25 victories.

🔥 COMMUNITY DEBATE:
Although Loeb has more wins, Ogier has won his 9 titles with 3 different manufacturers (Volkswagen, M-Sport Ford, and Toyota).

🏁 RALLY OF PORTUGAL 2026: REDEMPTION IN FAFE! 🇵🇹
What we experienced this weekend was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions! Just when we all thought Toyota would continue its dominance, fate (and the stones of Portugal) decided otherwise.

🏆 THE WINNER: Thierry Neuville (Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT)
After a difficult start to the season, Neuville finally broke the drought. Not only did he win his 23rd rally, but he also gave Hyundai its first victory of 2026, ending Toyota's streak of 5 consecutive wins.

📉 THE DRAMA: Sébastien Ogier's puncture
The image of the rally: Ogier stopped on the penultimate stage. He was leading by 21.9 seconds and on the verge of his record eighth victory in Portugal, until a puncture dashed his hopes, leaving him in 6th position.

📊 FINAL POSITIONS (TOP 10):

🥇 T. Neuville (Hyundai) — 3:53:01.7
🥈 O. Solberg (Toyota) — +16.3s
🥉 E. Evans (Toyota) — +29.1s
A. Fourmaux (Hyundai) — +1m 12.6s
T. Katsuta (Toyota) — +1m 26.6s
S. Ogier (Toyota) — +2m 04.1s
S. Pajari (Toyota) — +3m 15.2s
G. Munster (Ford) — +5m 40.9s
T. Suninen (Toyota - WRC2) — +11m 22.1s
Y. Rossel (Citroën - WRC2) — +11m 45.4s

💡 ANECDOTES AND INTERESTING FACTS:

• 💨 Fafe on the Limit: Adrien Fourmaux (Hyundai) literally flew over the jump to take the maximum points in the Power Stage.

• 🔝 Championship Lead: Elfyn Evans remains at the top of the standings with 123 points, but Neuville is closing in.

🇵🇹 RALLY OF PORTUGAL 2026: SATURDAY OF SURVIVAL! 🇵🇹

Greetings, Rally Crazy Moments community! Saturday was the longest and most demanding day of this 6th round of the World Rally Championship. With the Amarante stage (26.24 km), the drivers had to manage their tires and nerves on extremely abrasive terrain.

🔝 The Duel at the Top
The battle remains focused on consistency. Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) and Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) are locked in a strategic duel. While Ogier is trying to manage his lead, Neuville is attacking to close the gap on valuable championship points.

🌟 Saturday's Stars

Sami Pajari: Incredible performance from the young Finn! He remains firmly in the podium positions, proving that his speed on gravel was no fluke on Friday. 🇫🇮

Takamoto Katsuta: He had a solid pace today, staying in the fight for top points and protecting his position in the championship. 🇯🇵

Elfyn Evans: After struggling to clear the track on Friday, he recovered some pace today, although the gap to the leaders remains a challenge. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

⚠️ The Key Factor: Tires and Dust
The two runs through Felgueiras and Amarante left the tracks very rough. Many drivers were seen carefully managing their cars to avoid punctures that could ruin the weekend before tomorrow's legendary Fafe jump.

🏆 Here's how the World Championship stands (Virtual - Live Standings):
The championship is heating up and every point in Portugal counts:

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Elfyn Evans – 101 pts
🇯🇵 Takamoto Katsuta – 99 pts
🇫🇮 Sami Pajari – 72 pts
🇸🇪 Oliver Solberg – 68 pts
🇫🇷 Adrien Fourmaux – 59 pts

🏁 Tomorrow's the main event! We finish with the Wolf Power Stage in Fafe. Can Ogier handle the pressure or will we see a surprise from the youngsters?

Stay tuned for the final results! 👇

🇵🇹 DRAMA AND DUST AT THE 2026 RALLY OF PORTUGAL! 🇵🇹

What a crazy weekend we're experiencing in Portugal! The WRC has landed in the country and the battle for the lead is heating up. Here are the highlights from the competition so far:

⚔️ The Battle for the Top
Sébastien Ogier has shown why he's a legend. After a nail-biting Friday, the Frenchman leads the overall standings by a slim margin of just 3.7 seconds over a hot-footed Thierry Neuville. Any mistake could change everything! ⏱️🔥

🥉 The Surprise of the Weekend
Keep an eye on Sami Pajari! The young Finn is putting on a masterclass in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, holding firm in third place on the provisional podium. He managed to win two consecutive stages and is only 15.2 seconds off the lead. Pure talent! 🇫🇮🚀

📉 A rollercoaster ride for Solberg
Oliver Solberg, who dominated the start of the rally on Thursday, had a difficult Friday morning, dropping to fifth position, but managed to recover to finish the day in a solid fourth. The Solberg grit is on display! 👊

🛠️ The Technical Challenges
Tire management: The sandy tracks degrade quickly, laying out sharp rocks that have tested the Hankook tires.
Route clearance: Elfyn Evans has struggled opening the road, sweeping up loose dust, which keeps him in contention but off the podium for now.

📊 General Classification (Top 5) - Friday:

🇫🇷 S. Ogier (Toyota) - 1:28:25.2
🇧🇪 T. Neuville (Hyundai) +3.7s
🇫🇮 S. Pajari (Toyota) +15.2s
🇸🇪 O. Solberg (Toyota) +16.4s
🇬🇧 E. Evans (Toyota) +34.3s

🏆 Podium Summary
The battle was epic until the very last moment, marked by almost absolute dominance from the Toyotas.

🥇 Sébastien Ogier (Toyota): The "Maestro" showed why he is a legend. He won with a 19.9-second advantage, securing his 68th victory.

🥈 Elfyn Evans (Toyota): A golden second place that catapults him to the top of the World Championship standings.

🥉 Sami Pajari (Toyota): The young talent completed a 100% Toyota podium.

🎢 Race Report

The rally was a "mini Dakar" on tarmac due to its challenging nature. Oliver Solberg was the main protagonist of the drama: he pressured Ogier all weekend, getting within just 2.2 seconds of the lead. However, on the penultimate stage, the pressure got to him; He suffered an accident (KO) that took him out of contention when he was on the verge of victory. 💔

Meanwhile, Spaniard Alejandro Cachón shone brightly, managing to break into the overall Top 10 (10th) and demonstrating that Canarian/Spanish talent is on par with the best in the world. Dani Sordo, in his return, earned a valuable 6 points.

📸 Anecdotes and Curiosities

Car Invasion! (Friday's Chaos): 🚗🚫 The FIA had to cancel the Tejeda - San Mateo 1 stage because there were more than 100 fans' cars illegally parked in protected areas. Canarian passion almost overwhelmed security!

Total Toyota Domination: In the early stages of Friday, the top five positions overall were occupied by the five Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 cars. A complete monologue! 🇯🇵

Solberg's scare: Oliver didn't just crash at the end; he was pushing the limits throughout the entire rally. In an interview, he said he wasn't going flat out... and then on the next stage, he almost flew off! In the end, his aggressive driving cost him a podium finish but won him the hearts of the fans.

The "Asphalt Factor": Unlike other rallies, the island heat and the abrasive Canarian asphalt destroyed tires. Tire management on the afternoon stages was what truly gave Ogier the victory.

WRC atmosphere: It's estimated that the roadsides roared with thousands of people, confirming that the Canary Islands are, quite possibly, home to the best tarmac rally fans in the world. 🗣️🔥

📊 World Championship Standings after the Canary Islands Rally

Elfyn Evans: 101 pts (New leader) 🔝

Takamoto Katsuta: 99 pts

Sami Pajari: Climbing the standings with 20 fresh points.

Next stop: the gravel roads of Portugal! 🇵🇹

🏆The Battle for the Lead ⚔️

The fight for overall victory has become a spectacular head-to-head battle:

Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) 🇫🇷: He maintains the lead, but his advantage is minimal. He's had to push his GR Yaris to the limit to fend off attacks. 🏎️💨

Oliver Solberg (Toyota) 🇸🇪: The biggest threat! The Swede has been flying in the afternoon stages, closing the gap. The difference is less than 4 seconds. ⏱️🔥

The Rest of the Top 5 📈

Elfyn Evans (Toyota) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿: He woke up today, winning three stages. He's currently on the provisional podium (3rd). 🥉

Sami Pajari (Toyota) 🇫🇮: Remains very solid in fourth position. 🇫🇮

Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) 🇯🇵: Closes out the top five, struggling a bit with grip. 📉

The Hyundai Armada and Local Talent 🇪🇸

Adrien Fourmaux 🇫🇷: Consolidated as the best of the Hyundais in 6th position. 💨

Dani Sordo 🇪🇸: The local hero! The Cantabrian driver is in 7th position. Although he lost some time, he continues to give his all in front of his fans. 👏🔥

Thierry Neuville 🇧🇪: A frustrating day for the championship leader; He can't find his rhythm and is currently in 8th place. 😕

Key takeaways from the day 🔑

Variable weather: 🌦️ Intermittent rain complicated tire choices, favoring Solberg's attack.

Moya-Gáldar stage: 🏔️ The day's deciding stage. Its almost 29 km destroyed times and tires.

Incredible fans: 📣 Thousands of people packed the roadsides in Maspalomas and Teror. A fantastic atmosphere!

What awaits us tomorrow, Sunday? 📅 Four decisive stages remain, including the Wolf Power Stage in Agüimes. With only 4 seconds separating them... Any mistake will be costly! 😱

🏆📍What a spectacle we're witnessing on the roads of Gran Canaria! 🏎️💨

The 50th Rally Islas Canarias 2026 is not only special because of its anniversary, but also because of its historic return to the WRC (World Rally Championship) calendar.

Here's a summary of what the competition has delivered so far (updated to Friday, April 24, 2026):

🏁 Competition Summary
The rally has kicked off with a dominant performance from Toyota Gazoo Racing, who have adapted better than anyone to the abrasive and technical asphalt of the islands. The battle for the lead has been frantic since the super special stage in Las Palmas.

🔝 The Protagonists

Sébastien Ogier (Toyota): The "maestro" took control of the rally on Friday, extending his lead and demonstrating why he is a legend on tarmac. 🥇

Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota): He was the first leader after winning the spectacular stage at the Insular Stadium, although he has struggled a bit with understeer on the longer stages.

Oliver Solberg (Toyota): After setting the fastest time in the shakedown, he remains in contention in the top 5, although with mixed feelings about the handling of his Yaris. 🚗🔥

Dani Sordo (Hyundai): The local hero and favorite of the Spanish fans is fighting at the front (initially 4th), trying to stop the advance of the Toyotas. 🇪🇸

📊 Important Facts

Historical Milestone: This is the 50th edition of the rally and marks Spain's return to the World Rally Championship (WRC). Key Section: The Moya-Gáldar stage (28.9 km) is shaping up to be the "queen stage" where a large part of the time differences will be decided. 🏔️

📍 What's new this year?

The rally has undergone a complete transformation compared to previous editions:

New Venue: The service park has moved from Zagreb to Rijeka, on the Adriatic coast. 🌊
New Stages: With the change of location, almost all the stages are new. The rally takes place near the coast and in the mountain passes of Gorski Kotar.
