Officially introduced to Sri Lanka last night, the all-new 2026 Toyota Hilux and 2026 Toyota RAV4 were unveiled by Toyota Lanka to a host of media and invitees.

The Hilux, with it's perhaps polarising outward appearance certainly looks aggressive in the metal, but the interior is where you'll find more car-like creature comforts, like electric seats, cruse control, and wireless phone charging. But with a utilitarian and familiar 1GD 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine, it's likely to still win hearts off-road.

Meanwhile the RAV4 really moves upmarket with loads of space, heated and cooled electric memory seats, a full-length moonroof, dual wireless phone charging, and Toyota's Safety Sense 4.0.

Prices? The base manual 4x4 version of the 2026 Toyota Hilux will start at LKR 23.5mn while the top-spec model with all the bells and whistles will be LKR 28.5mn. The RAV4 meanwhile will be available in both petrol and 2.5-liter hybrid versions, and starts at LKR 39.5mn.

Launched at the EV Motor Show, Henrey and Livan are the latest Chinese brands to enter the Sri Lankan market.

Introduced by Sterling Automobiles, the Henrey Mincar is a small urban-focused EV with a 35 kW motor, DC fast charging, and an introductory price of LKR 6,750,000.

Meanwhile, the Livan RL8 is a larger seven-seat MPV, with captain's chairs in the second row, a 120 kW motor, and a claimed 430km range. It's being offered at LKR 18,990,000 for the first 25 customers.

British Car Day 2026 saw over 50 classic cars take to the streets of Colombo, celebrating the influence that these automobiles had on our roads.

Organised by the Classic Car Club, the cars were led on a short drive from Navam Mawatha to the iconic Galle Face Hotel, where members indulged in themed games, and brunch.
