Go-kart sized, battery-powered, student-designed and built vehicles that test technology skills. What is Electrathon Racing?

An electrathon is a custom built three or four wheeled electric vehicle, somewhat similar in overall appearance to a Go-Kart, but powered by an electric motor and batteries. Electrathon class vehicles are principally defined and constrained by length and width (12 feet long and 4 feet wide maximum) and by battery weight and chemistry (73 lbs, sealed lead acid). Driver’s weight is ballasted to 180

lbs for fairness. Safety regulations require features such as braking systems, roll bars, and electrical disconnects. The basic format is to determine which car can travel the furthest distance in one hour’s time within the limitations of battery weight and other factors mentioned above. The main design problem is posed by the fact that fast speeds drain the batteries rapidly resulting in the car not being able to continue in motion for the entire hour, so design teams must compromise speed in order to gain distance

How we are promoting Electrathon Racing:
We are an Umbrella Organization for Electric Car Clubs. We provide consulting services, guidance, online project management and blogging tools and other resources to Technical Centers and High School based Electric Car Clubs seeking to build and compete in Electrathon Racing. We assist the club sponsors and club members free of charge to get their programs up and running both technically and logistically. Who we are:
We are a mentoring partnership of Contractors, Educators, Engineers, Interested Citizens and Information Technologists in the Tampabay area. Our partnership is open to any interested parties, Companies and Associations.

REMINDER
Saturday, May 9th will be the last race of our season. We will be at Mulberry High School and it will be a road course.

The END OF YEAR AWARDS AND BANQUET WILL BE HELD AFTER THE RACE @ MULBERRY HS

Contact Trish with total number of attendees for banquet by April 15th so that food can be ordered. There will be door prizes and great food.
