Another bike saved. 05 Harley Road King got reborn with a zippers performance 98” big bore kit and hydraulic cam plate with RedShift 511 cams and ThunderMax ECU.

Had to pull the crank case and drop the oil pan to throughly get all hardened steel bits out and cleaned/blew out all the oil passages.

Changed all engine/transmission/primary seals and primary chain shoe since it all had to come apart.

Also noticed rear pads had dug into the rotor, all good now.

Test ride went smooth……

As always, let me know what I can do for you.

Customers ‘05 Road King suddenly lost all power during a ride then wouldn’t start, blew a bunch of oil out through the air cleaner.

I get ahold of her, pull oil dipstick and attempt to crank to find LOTS of crank case pressure….
No bueno….

Did elicit a CEL to read crank case position sensor unable to read. Pull that to find what I thought was a piece of inner cam bearing needle bearing bits stuck on the magnet… severe scoring on both cylinder walls and piston skirts… sumped what looks like over a half a quart of oil… also all no bueno….

Crank pinion runout checks ok to about .004 with no “scissoring” between the con rods. Gonna pull the crank case out to clean it up of all hardened steel bits and install new main bearings.

Customer wants to go ahead and hop her up a bit with a Zippers 98” kit among a few other upgrades since it has to come apart.

We’ll get it back ready for a ride here shortly, as always, let me know what I can do for you…

Play hard, pay hard…. After busting through a few drive belts and going to a chain drive, this customer has put I believe two stock transmissions in his scoot, but when you ride hard on a built engine (128 CID, cammed, and tuned) that stress will come to a head at the weakest link.

Many people overlook the primary chain case components when they want a bigger, badder engine and more power. Please consider everything between the engine and where the rubber hits the road when you want to be able to reliably twist the hell out of your throttle and enjoy your bike with less headache.

I don’t typically suggest higher end components for everything, but a quick conversation with the rider led us to a Baker Drivetrain Grudge Box transmission and a complete Evolution Industries clutch basket replacement. He already had a Baker compensator assy from one of the previous failures.

Weird noises spontaneously coming from your bike suck.

This customer brought his bike in for a 3 hole fluid/filter change, and mentioned his final drive chain (an aftermarket conversion from belt drive) was loose and was slapping around. He trailered it to the shop for me to do what I do.

Upon arrival, bike wouldn’t start to get it in the garage, so he asked for a battery as well.

Changed the battery, cleaned, re-lubed, and tightened the chain, to find there’s still a “slapping” noise coming from his primary after my first start. Contacted the customer to let him know I gotta go a little deeper. Found this gremlin hiding in his compensator spring pack (the broken spring). It’s an aftermarket brand (doesn’t matter which one). This dude loves clutch dumps and burnouts. I don’t care what brand of components you like, if you bash it enough, you’re gonna break stuff. The cost of having fun I guess…..

Believe it or not, riding season is right around the corner. Give me a call with those maintenance/performance projects you’ve been putting off.

This 09 CVO Roady is getting higher compression pistons to better match the owners cam choice previously installed along with new valve springs/seals, and top end gaskets simce its been a while. Ring gaps meticulously measured and staggered in a fresh crosshatch in the cylinders.

Every build comes with a printout of all ring gaps, piston to cylinder wall measurements, and piston to deck height measurements (in this case). I do this for the next mechanic so they know exactly what’s going on before they have to put a wrench on it.

As always, let me know what I can do for you…..

We put a Trask turbo on what is becoming the most expensive 2005 Road King on the planet…😂😂

First fire up/ burn off (new parts always smoke up a little on first heat). 2005 Road King, S&S long stroke bottom end, S&S big bore kit with Carrillo pistons, 585 cams, baker 6 speed trans, Barnett clutch w/ heavy spring , and chain drive conversion.

Little bit of tweaking on base tune and we’ll be ready for a road test whenever weather allows…

Let me know what I can do for you…
