This week, the 2008 Subaru Legacy was brought into the shop for an oil change and to address inoperative license plate light bulbs. During our complimentary multi-point inspection, we identified additional maintenance needs, including front brake pads and rotors, as well as a brake fluid service.

Findings:

License Plate Lights:

The new bulbs were installed, but the lights remained inoperative.
Further inspection revealed broken wires in the vehicle’s tailgate harness, which was the root cause of the issue.
Brakes:

Front brake pads and rotors were due for replacement.
Upon inspection, all four brake slider pins were found to be seized.
The sliders were cleaned and properly greased to ensure optimal performance.
Brake Fluid Service:

The brake system was bled to remove any contaminated fluid and ensure proper hydraulic function.
Oil Change:

Completed an oil change as requested.
Services Performed:

Replaced broken tailgate harness to restore functionality of license plate lights.
Replaced front brake pads and rotors.
Cleaned and lubricated all brake slider pins.
Bled the brake system.
Performed oil change.

1. The 2017 Volkswagen Jetta came in this past week with a complaint about a rotational noise.

Jeep Grand Cherokee dropped off the other day for a noise in the front end while driving and an airbag light illuminated on the speedometer. Quick test drive and inspection on the lift and we found that the drivers front wheel bearing was howling so bad that it had worn down the ball bearings and cause the wheel to have play! As for the airbag light we used our Autel scanner and found codes for the drivers front airbag, after further diagnosis we confirmed that it was the vehicles roll pin / clock spring that had failed.
