After a less-than desirable Group 2 Opening Day, the Ashton Burgess Racing team went back to the drawing board and have been working hard in the shop over the past 2 weeks to get the #34 Late Model ready for another round of battle at Wiscasset Speedway LLC.

Repairs have successfully been completed and the team is hoping that the weather will cooperate for week #2 of racing action.

In addition to a 40-lap feature for the Late Models on Saturday, the race program will also include the weekly Modifieds, Strictly Streets, Roadrunners and the first 100-lap Enduro race of the season.

Grandstands open one hour prior to the 2:00 pm start time and adult admission is still just $5 while kids 6 & under get in for free.

The Ashton Burgess Racing team finally rolled the #34 machine out of the stable on Saturday following a long and cold off-season and hit the track at Wiscasset Speedway LLC .

Featuring a brand-new design and wrap provided by Team Huff Customs , the car looked ready for both the showroom AND some Late Model racing action.

Unfortunately, the car’s handling struggled mightily on old tires. The crew swapped them out and the car warmed right up to new stickers, gaining eight tenths in practice.

Ashton battled tight conditions in the heat race, holding onto it to finish eighth. He started the feature back in 14th and continued to fight an ill-handling car in the opening laps of the race. Unfortunately, the third link broke mid-race, shifting the rear end. This made the car near-impossible to control.

It was a struggle from there, but Ashton managed to hold onto it, finishing 14th. It was surely a disappointing start to the season, but both the driver and crew are fully aware that the season is extremely young with a loaded schedule on the horizon.

In his own words, “It definitely wasn’t the start that we wanted but we will get it fixed and be back better. As always, thank you to my sponsors and supporters for sticking in our corner”.

Following some necessary repairs on the #34 machine and a few man hours in the shop, Ashton plans to hit the track again next Saturday, May 9th. The green flag flies at 2:00 pm!

Disappointed is an understatement after all the effort made by the crew today. Not very good on old tires but picked up speed and was a little tight on stickers. Made some adjustments for the feature but unfortunately we suffered a broke 3rd link and finished 14th or so 1 lap down with the car being out of control . Certainly will fight hard and get things fixed to get back in victory lane soon. Updated post with pics and sponsors to come!

As we continue to work diligently on the car for the 2026 season we are happy to announce we plan on racing the full 2026 late model season at Wiscasset Speedway along with the 2026 Coastal 200. We would like to make a trip or two to Bangor as well if the budget and time allows. We are still searching for marketing partners and have space on the car including the decklid and other small options available.
