Those that know me well know that I'm hardly ever at a loss for words but that is what this experience is left me with.
Thank you FasterSkunk Racing for the years of partnership, working together to take your program and the platform to yet another level.
Pikes Peak International Hill Climb gets a lot of attention because of the race.
The views. The cliffs. The clouds.
The photos that somehow make a giant mountain look even bigger.
What doesn’t always get seen is what it takes to actually get here.
This project wasn’t built by one person writing checks and hoping for the best. It was built by sponsors, partners, friends, businesses, and believers who invested money, time, expertise, patience, and occasionally what can only be described as blind faith.
Some wrote checks. Some designed parts that had never existed before. Some rebuilt things that were already “finished.”
Some answered phone calls that started with, “So I have an idea…” and ended with entirely new projects. Some watched timelines compress from months into days.
Some looked at a race car that had already won races and championships and collectively agreed, “Yeah, let’s cut that apart and start over.”
Normal people see a race car.
We see CJM Industries engineering solutions, testing ideas, redesigning ideas, and then somehow finding time to redesign them again.
We see Babyface Fabrication turning impossible schedules into completed work and transforming a good cage into a Pikes Peak cage.
We see OneOf250 helping turn a successful track car into something capable of taking on America’s Mountain.
We see Lifetime Audi Parts patiently answering an endless stream of “Hey, can we try this?” requests. Parts. Hardware. Advice. Another box. Another experiment. Another idea. At some point they stopped asking why and simply started helping us figure out what was next.
We see Racing for ALS trusting us to carry 523 names and stories up a mountain that has been challenging racers for over a century.
We see Vitour Performance Tires providing tires that have survived hillclimbs, time attack events, championships, records, and still seem eager for one more challenge.
We see Wilwood helping make sure there is a plan for all the acceleration.
We see Cars and Coffee Morrisville, Inc helping share the story and the mission far beyond the racing community.
We see Jzilla Track Days supporting Racing for ALS as well as our endeavors.
We see Audi Club Carolinas bringing a group of enthusiasts together, continuing to educate the next pool of drivers while encouraging others to go towards their dreams.
And perhaps most importantly, we see patience.
Patience while development happened.
Patience while plans changed.
Patience while parts were redesigned.
Patience while timelines compressed.
Patience while Rob learned that 156 turns means there are at least 156 opportunities to discover something new.
Tomorrow, one driver points a car toward the summit.
But this effort belongs to far more people than the name on the entry list.
It belongs to every sponsor.
Every supporter.
Every worker.
Every volunteer.
Every family member.
Every friend.
And every person who helped turn an idea into an expedition.
Thank you for believing in the mission.
Thank you for believing in the team.
Thank you for helping carry 523 Racing for ALS names to one of the most legendary races on Earth.
The mountain doesn’t negotiate.
The mountain doesn’t care about budgets, development hours, sponsorship decks, qualifying positions, or late nights in the shop.
The mountain simply waits.
Tomorrow we’ll do what generations of racers have done before us.
We’ll show up prepared. We’ll show up grateful. We’ll show up respectful. And we’ll see whether we’ve done our homework.
