An important part of routine car maintenance is having the oil changed regularly. It is recommended to change your oil every 3 months or every 3,000 miles, whichever comes first. Newer cars can usually go longer without having the oil changed, check with your local auto shop! Regular oil changes will keep your engine lubricated and your vehicle running smoothly.
If the “check engine oil” light comes on while driving, your oil is most likely running low. A driver does not always need a mechanic to add oil. However, if the oil light stays on or lights up shortly after adding oil, you might have a leak, and a professional needs to look at it right away.
