STARTING THE WEEK OF JUNE 8TH WE ARE OPEN FOR WALK IN OIL CHANGES ..MY ENCOURAGEMENT IS TO COME IN NOW, DONT WAIT! ITS ABOUT TO GET VERY EXPENSIVE
Changing your vehicles oil will become difficult and will cost a whole lot more really quick and I bet you didn't know.
There is a Major Synthetic Oil Shortage Coming This Summer (2026). A massive global shortage of high-end synthetic motor oil is heading toward auto parts stores and mechanic shops, with major supply drops expected to hit by June 2026.
Why is this happening? This is not a crude oil shortage. A critical shipping bottleneck in the Middle East and severe damage to a major international refining facility have choked off 55% of the supply for Group III base oil—the core ingredient used to make premium synthetic lubricants.
The Hardest Hit Oil Specs & Weights: 0W-8 & 0W-16 will likely disappear from retail store shelves first as manufacturers divert remaining stock strictly to dealerships.
GM Dexos Products: General Motors vehicles built in the last decade require this spec, which is facing a massive manufacturing bottleneck. 0W-20 & Full Synthetic 5W-30:
High-volume weights for standard commuter cars and SUVs will see severe "spot shortages" and strict customer purchase limits by late summer. German vehicles use these oils as well.
The Timeline: The Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association (ILMA) warns that inventories could bottom out this month, with rationing and retail price spikes lasting until mid-2027.
If I were you I would get an oil change done now regardless of if you need it. I've heard you may pay 3-4 times more for an oil change. If you change your own oil I'd grab some extra oil and filters while you can for future oil changes. DO NOT SKIP oil changes and DO NOT go longer intervals as running old, dirty oil past its limits causes immediate engine wear, sludge and engine damage.
