This is a MS based business that we used to visit when my sister lived in Wiggins. It’s an excellent business and someone left a 3⭐️ review. The owner’s reply is thoughtful and really gets to the heart of locally owned business. I hope you will take the time to read and share it. I know that not all local businesses pour their heart and lives into their work, but those of us who do truly want to provide the best 5⭐️ service you can get, and would much prefer to address any issues before they get to a review. Not because we care more about the review, but because the thought that someone left our business feeling less than cared for is devastating. Thank you SO much to all of you for being amazing customers and friends to us- and thank you to all of you who have taken the time to share a review!!
I woke up this morning trying to figure out how I wanted to respond to Stephanie. I’m just now finding the words.
Thoughts from the business owner 🫶
As small business owners, I think it’s important to have an honest conversation about reviews and how much they truly impact businesses like ours…

This came on the morning of almost exactly 10 years to date that we opened Snow Boogers. I know you probably left your review thinking you were simply sharing your opinion, and I truly respect that everyone is entitled to one. But I also wanted to share a little perspective from the other side of the counter.
Snow Boogers is not some giant corporation. It’s a small family business built with years of sacrifice, stress, long nights, hard work, and we put so much heart into this business.
When people visit, they see shaved ice and ice cream. What they don’t always see is the homemade ice cream and homemade Italian ice, the endless prep work, the payroll, repairs, rising food costs, insurance, maintenance, property management, utility expenses and the constant pressure that comes with running a small business in today’s world.
We also built this place to be more than just somewhere you grab dessert and leave. The playgrounds, ziplines, tire wall, shaded seating, the pavilion, the kids racetrack, and even the free library were all created so families could sit, relax, laugh, and make memories together.
You mentioned pricing, and I completely understand everyone has different expectations. But what many people may not realize is we truly try our hardest to keep things affordable. We literally offer $1 snowballs because we know life is expensive right now for families too.
And truthfully, there’s been many times we’ve quietly given treats away for free to children, struggling parents, or homeless individuals because people will always matter more to us than profit.
And in the eyes of a small business owner, a 3 star review honestly isn’t considered “good.” It actually stings more than people realize because reviews directly affect how people view and support our business. One quick review may only take a moment to leave, but for a small business owner, it can sit heavy on our hearts for days.
I think what hurts sometimes about reviews is when all the heart behind a business gets overlooked.
Aside from the pricing comment, if there was ever an issue with your visit, I genuinely wish you would’ve reached out to me directly because I would’ve gone above and beyond to make it right.
And next time you go to leave a review for any small business, I just hope you’ll pause for a second and ask yourself a few deeper questions.
Did this business try?
Did they create something special?
Could this have been handled differently if I spoke with the owner first?
Is there a real family behind this business doing their best every single day?
Because I promise you… there usually is 🩷
