BREAKING: Major forensic twist in the Charlie Kirk assassination case
A new court filing from Tyler Robinson’s defense team claims the bullet recovered from Charlie Kirk’s autopsy does not match the grandfather’s rifle that prosecutors have identified as the murder weapon.
According to the filing, a Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives (ATF) analysis was unable to link the fatal bullet to the Mauser-style .30-06 rifle allegedly tied to Robinson. That rifle — recovered near the scene, wrapped in a towel with Robinson’s DNA reportedly present — has been a cornerstone of the prosecution’s case from day one.
Defense attorneys argue this ballistic discrepancy undermines a key piece of evidence prosecutors have relied on, along with DNA, texts, and other forensics. Additional FBI testing is reportedly still underway.
This is a rapidly developing story
