Please send vehicle info and location with your first message. Hi, I’m John Fischer 5th, the owner and lead mechanic of Carma Repairs. I’ve been passionate about working on vehicles my entire life and bring over 3 years of professional shop experience plus years of hands-on repair and maintenance across a wide variety of vehicles. I’ve worked in both independent shops and larger service centers, including time as a mechanic at Mavis Tire and as an emergency vehicle service technician. That background taught me the importance of precision, safety, and keeping vehicles reliable under pressure. After leaving the shop environment, I’ve continued repairing and rebuilding vehicles — everything from daily driver maintenance on my family's vehicle's,friend's vehicle's, to my truck's full engine rebuild, transmission service's, brakes, suspension, A/C, diagnostics, and electrical troubleshooting. With Carma Repairs, I bring the same professional service to you, conveniently mobile, so your car gets fixed where you are. I follow manufacturer torque specifications, use proper procedures, and provide clear inspections and documentation with every job. Whether you need routine maintenance, pre-purchase inspections, or more in-depth repairs, my goal is simple: to keep your vehicle safe, reliable, and running the way it should — with honesty and care. I know first hand the trouble's,time, upsell and unfair pricing at a shop and my main reason for this start up is helping those in need on a budget!

2013 Nissan Rogue back in today for an exhaust repair. 🔧

💨The rear exhaust pipe had broken after one of the muffler support points failed, leaving the system hanging and bouncing around until the pipe finally separated.

Today’s work: • Repaired the broken exhaust section with a 2¼" sleeve, clamps, and exhaust sealer
• Cleaned and aligned the connection
• Re-secured the exhaust at the original hanger location so it’s supported properly again
• Sealed a few weak spots in the older muffler
• Checked the system for leaks and movement
• Ran a complimentary battery/starting/charging test after the vehicle barely started

🔩The exhaust is connected, sealed, and solid again for now. The rest of the system is heavily aged/rusted, so eventually a larger exhaust section replacement will make more sense than continuing to patch individual weak spots.

🔋Battery also failed testing with a bad cell, while the charging system tested normal — replacement recommended ASAP.

🔧 Another busy day at Carma Repair!

Today we're working the 2004 Nissan Frontier 3.3L S/C again

Getting it back into shape after sitting for an extended period.

This truck has been keeping us busy!

🔩 Suspension: Replacing worn shocks, damaged sway-bar links, and bushings with new Bilstein shocks and suspension components.

💧 Cooling system: Addressing a coolant leak and replacing a deteriorated, leaking hose buried underneath the intake assembly.

🔋 Electrical: Found a recently installed battery completely discharged to less than 1 volt. Neither our battery charger nor professional battery tester could recognize it. Further electrical diagnosis will follow once we have a functioning battery.

🔥 Exhaust: Tracked down a cracked passenger-side exhaust manifold. This factory-supercharged model uses a specialized catalytic converter/manifold assembly, making replacement more complicated than expected.

Not every repair goes according to plan, especially on a 22-year-old truck. Sometimes the biggest part of the job is identifying the problem, verifying what actually fits, and finding the right solution.

🔧 Carma Repair — Taking Diagnostics to the Next Level!

Another addition to the diagnostic equipment: the Hantek 8-Channel Automotive Oscilloscope, which connects directly to my laptop.

Unlike a regular scan tool that reads trouble codes and sensor data, an oscilloscope allows me to see the actual electrical signals and waveforms being produced by components while they're operating.

This opens up another level of testing for things like:

⚙️ Crankshaft and camshaft sensor signals
⚡ Ignition and injector circuits
🔧 Intermittent electrical and sensor failures
📊 Signal irregularities that may not trigger a trouble code
🔩Symptoms with no codes stored

Sometimes a sensor can send incorrect information without setting a fault code. Being able to see the actual waveform helps narrow down what's really happening.

I'm looking forward to getting this equipment set up and putting it to work alongside my existing diagnostic tools.

The goal isn't to replace more parts. It's to understand exactly why something isn't working before recommending a repair.

🔧 Carma Repair — Tool & Equipment Update

Spent some time restocking supplies and getting the mobile setup better organized.

🔩Picked up some additional work lighting, including a rechargeable underhood light and floodlights for the back of the truck, reflective safety strips, socket organizers, cleaning supplies, and a few other tools to make jobs run smoother🔩

🔥Also got the oxy-acetylene torch setup ready to go for exhaust work and stubborn, seized hardware.🔥

Nothing too flashy — just continuing to improve the equipment, organization, and efficiency of the mobile operation.

🧥With colder weather and shorter days coming, having the right tools and lighting ready makes a difference.

🔧 2012 Nissan NV2500 — Engine Replacement COMPLETE! ✅

After one hell of a project, this Nissan work van is finally back on the road!

What started as an overheating and cooling-system diagnosis eventually revealed extensive engine damage, leading to a complete replacement with a remanufactured 4.0L VQ40DE.

And this was a whole lot more than simply swapping an engine.

🔧 Some of the work involved:

- Removed the damaged engine and installed the remanufactured replacement.
- Transferred and serviced the original engine accessories and components.
- Replaced the lower oil pan, seals, gaskets, hoses and various hardware.
- Diagnosed oil-pressure and cooling-system issues.
- Corrected a thermostat compatibility issue that was preventing proper coolant circulation.
- Repaired electrical connections, including an intermittent camshaft sensor fault that affected engine performance and shifting.
- Replaced a severely seized front brake caliper and serviced the front brakes.
- Dealt with countless rusted and broken bolts, brackets, clips and mounting hardware.
- Completed engine relearns, extensive testing, final reassembly and multiple road tests.

There were plenty of unexpected problems along the way, and this one definitely tested my patience, tools and diagnostic skills.

But the results speak for themselves:

✅ Engine running smoothly
✅ Cooling temperatures stable
✅ Transmission shifting properly
✅ Oil pressure verified
✅ Brakes serviced
✅ No active fluid leaks
✅ Final diagnostic scan clear of engine and transmission faults

The van is back together, road-tested, and ready to return to work.

Not every repair goes according to plan. Sometimes the real work is figuring out why something isn't working, rather than just replacing another part.

🔧 Another Electrical Failure Caught — 2007 Ford Escape 3.0L V6

Had a returning customer’s Escape come back with an intermittent complete loss of electrical power. No lights, no crank, nothing. After a jump-start, the vehicle started normally again.

Rather than guessing, we went through the electrical system.

⚡ Here's what we found:

The battery-to-body ground cable was deteriorating internally and fraying at the terminal. Resistance readings were jumping around just from moving the wire by hand, at one point showing approximately 6 ohms!

That kind of intermittent connection can cause complete electrical failure without warning.

🔋 But that wasn't the only problem.

The battery was only about five months old, yet our Autel MK900-BT measured:

❌ Rated: 590 CCA
❌ Actual: 225 CCA
❌ Battery health test: Replace Soon

Meanwhile, the alternator was charging normally around 14.1–14.3 volts.

We repeated the battery test with similar results, confirming the need for further action.

🛠️ Repairs completed:

✅ Replaced deteriorated battery-to-body ground wiring
✅ Cleaned grounding surfaces and installed new hardware
✅ Secured and protected electrical connections
✅ Handled battery replacement through Walmart's warranty
✅ Verified starting and charging system operation

New battery results:

✅ 827 measured CCA
✅ 100% state of health
✅ Normal cranking and charging

The videos show why electrical diagnostics matter. A wire can appear connected and still fail intermittently, while a relatively new battery can test poorly despite showing normal voltage.

Voltage present doesn't always mean the circuit can carry the current it needs.

Another vehicle back on the road, with the electrical faults addressed and verified.

Yesterday’s brake job was a nightmare and is still waiting on parts. Tonight’s GMC rear pads and rotors? About an hour and a half, and we’re putting the wheels back on for the final checks and test drive.

Two brake jobs, two completely different experiences. That’s how this work goes.

It’s 8:30, about 60 degrees, no wind, no rain, and quiet out here. Honestly, I don’t mind an evening job like this at all. 🔧

2012 Nissan NV2500 is officially running with the reman engine. 🔧

Oil pressure looks good, engine is running smooth, and we’re down to the last annoying issue: getting the cooling system fully bled and circulating the way it should.

At this point, the van itself is basically ready — just working through this last coolant headache before I’m comfortable putting it on the road.
