Because there are a lot of questions about our business being listed for sale, I am going to put a post out here....

The reason it is for sale, is because Bill began his mechanic career when GM put him through mechanic school in 1977. He then worked for Super Chevrolet, Larry Poppa, and Tarkio Tire before he and his wife, Mary Ann decided to open their own auto repair shop in October of 1990 in the east end of the old Super Chevrolet building, where he originally began his career. After a few years, we moved our business to the west end of the same building, where there were more repair bays and hired some employees, to expand. In 1999, we purchased the Tarkio Tire Building from Bill's former employer, Harry Wright, and moved Quality Auto Repair one last time and added more employees! Apparently, we didn't have enough on our plate, so in March of 2010, we purchased the NAPA store from Jason Goldberg and added that to the same location, along with another employee. Bill also farms his family farm, east of Tarkio. Bill has repaired cars in Tarkio, MO, for 47 years! Long story short, his body is feeling all of those years of concrete and working on vehicles in every position possible! It is now time for him to start moving toward retirement.

With that being said, he and I both LOVE Tarkio and Atchison County! We have given it our all to provide good, honest and fair service and pricing to everyone who has walked through our door, and plan to continue to do so, until it sells. We are also doing our best to make sure our community does not lose this business. We have been trying to figure this transition out for years, and are sincerely trying to do the best thing possible. We have worked this business for 35 years.

We are truly thankful for everyone who has and will continue to business with us as we make this transition.

I didn’t get any pictures of the bulldozing, but progress is being made! We will still have to put cold patch in the part that is asphalt.

We will be having dozer work done on the parking lot, today through Sunday. Please be patient with us.

If you need to leave a car over the weekend, please call 660-736-5561 or 660-744-4049 and we will instruct you where to park your car. You may still put the keys in the dropbox on the door that goes into the shop. If you are picking your car up today, it may be parked across the street at the old Pizza Hut building, when finished. The keys will be in the office. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but I’m sure you all know this has needed to be done for a long time!
