Let’s talk about hinges, trunk lid hinges to be specific. It’s usually difficult to see when a hinge is bent, particularly the C type hinges that were used on this Toyota and are fairly common with other brands as well. If a trunk lid takes a good hit it will often bend these hinges but you will never know it until you’re trying to get the new truck lid to fit. Your safe bet is to replace them from the start to avoid delays durning the repair process. If insurance wants proof that they are bent before they agree to pay for them just order them with the original parts order so you have them and document it at that point in the process. The last thing you want is to try and fit the new trunk lid just to find you need hinges and delay the repair by a few days until the new ones arrive. Save yourself the aggravation and delays and order the hinges the first time if there’s any question they are bent!
