The numbers used in the names of our refer to the percentage of foam concentrate used to make a finished foam solution.

SOLBERG® VERSAGARD™ 1x3 is designed for use at 1% proportioning on hydrocarbon fuels and 3% on polar solvent fuels. SOLBERG® VERSAGARD™ AS-100 FP is a 3x3 foam designed for use at 3% on both fuel types.

A lower proportioning rate on hydrocarbon fuels means less foam concentrate is needed to make the finished solution at the specified application rate.

The purpose of Class A foam is to make water more effective in firefighting. Surfactants reduce water’s surface tension, helping the solution spread across and pe*****te fuels more effectively. When mixed with air, the solution forms foam that helps coat fuels and improve water retention.

The result is more effective use of water than water alone in many firefighting applications.

Perimeter Solutions has been developing Class A foam solutions since introducing PHOS-CHEK® WD881 in the 1980s.
