My father Joe Sr was Inducted into the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame last night. I was able to accept the award on his behalf, presented by longtime friend and driver Boris Said at our home track, where Huffaker was the first tenant in 1986.

⭐️ FOR SALE ⭐️

NISSAN SENTRA – SCCA GTL RACE CAR
Written by Lans Stout, previous owner:
I have raced this car since 2003, and while I still love it, at age 74 it is time for something Vintage.
This car was raced by Scott Culbertson from 2000 through 2002, during which time he won the NASPORT GT4 Championship and made three Runoffs appearances including one pole position. I have held multiple track records at Portland International Raceway and Pacific Raceway; and have multiple Regional and Divisional championships.
I have made eight Runoffs appearances with multiple top-6 finishes. In the 2020 Runoffs, I qualified it in third. During the race I was punted off the track and into last place, but still managed to work through traffic and finish fourth.
Joe Huffaker drove this car in the SCCA Majors race at Portland and in his third stint was below the lap record held by Parker Johnstone. He subsequently purchased the car focusing on the future VA Runoffs venues.
The right driver can win the Runoffs with this car.
Specifications
Chassis:
The chassis was built in Portland OR by Profab (Steve Gattrell). I was told that the design was based on a Roush TransAm chassis. The chassis is very rigid, and uses the engine as a stressed member. There has never been any significant damage.
Suspension/wheels:
Penske three way adjustable coil overs on all four corners; custom a-arms and adjustable links; Coleman Racing square rack steering box; Bogart Racing lightweight wheels. (Note: Joe added a new set of Jongbloed wheels just before the Indy Runoffs)
Engine:
Nissan L18 built by Loyning Engine Service, at the maximum allowed 15:1 CR. Produces over the GTL horsepower target, with a very flat torque curve. Dyno sheet available at time of purchase. Total time on this engine from fresh is four race weekends plus the 2021 Runoffs, for a total of approx. 6 hours.
MoTec engine management; Laptop computer with software comes with it.
Bosch in-tank fuel pump; Bosch injectors and sensors; custom sealed airbox; Ron Davis radiator; Peterson dry sump system; Quartermaster 5.5 double disc clutch.
Transmission:
Saenz TC780 dog engagement 5 spd; pit-gear first, with second through fifth arranged specifically for the GTL engine torque curve. This unit was disassembled, inspected, and freshened as needed prior to 2020 Runoffs. Shifts effortlessly.

Differential:
Speedway Engineering MiniStock with Variloc limited slip; cooler with electric pump
Brakes:
Wilwood calipers on all four corners; Coleman Racing custom rotors; upgraded to G-Loc brake pads in 2021. Stops on a dime.
Data:
Aim MXL Pista logger with GPS lap timing.
Spares package
The spares package with this car includes car-specific parts for all elements, including:
12 Bogart Racing wheels, including one set with brand new Goodyear rains
1 set of new Jongbloed wheels run only 1 week at Indy.
A complete set of body panels except for the trunk lid (all will need to be painted)
Moulds for: Nose & doors.
A front clip tube section
A refreshed steering rack
One used Ron Davis radiator
One new front splitter (made from ABS same as the one on the car)
A tub with at least one of every sensor and switch related to the engine, plus cog belts, hoses and miscellaneous hardware
A tub of transmission gearsets, bearings and seals
A tub with brake calipers, wheel bearings, and seals
A tub with rear end parts including bearings, seals, and a complete center section with ring and pinion
Multiple rear end ratio gearsets
A notebook with comprehensive notes on setup and maintenance as well as manufacturer information on most on-car systems.
A fresh Loyning L18 engine with specs matching the one in the car.

Joe Huffaker now owns this car.
Joe’s notes:

I only have 2 races with this car. I absolutely think it can win the Runoffs, or I never would have purchased it…. 1 test-race was at a Majors in Portland to assess, and 1 Runoffs appearance at Indy.
A brand new Sparco surround seat was installed at my shop while prepping, and now has a new harness system that comes with it.
I’ve been busy with personal things over the last 2+ years, and it’s a shame to let this great car just sit. I last raced it at the Indy Runoffs 2021. It is priced right and hopefully someone will pick it up and head to VA and/or RA the next two years like I had planned.
Lans Stout absolutely FLEW by me up the hill driving this car at the Runoffs at RA, which is why I bought it.

The car is at my new race shop dubbed “Joe’s Race Shop” located in Cotati, CA.

Sale price for package as listed: $30K, USD

In June of 1973, I was hired by Huffaker Engineering right out of high school. Shortly after, I received my first ever paycheck for working on race cars!
How cool is that??

It has been a fantastic ‘ride’ over the years. But as of last Friday, June 30th 2023, I collected my final paycheck from the business. Exactly 50 years after I began…what a great moment to retire!

I experienced the best opportunities throughout the years honing my skills and learning from the best - my Dad. During this time, creating life-long friendships with hundreds of fellow race guru’s, enthusiasts, team owners, sanction body personnel, track workers, sponsors and suppliers, workers and co-workers, mechanics, fabricators, engineers, drivers, fans and their families.

I am looking forward to spending time in my new hobby shop, aptly named: “Joe’s Race Shop”.

Hope to see you at the racetrack and
Stay Tuned…..

- Joe Huffaker
