Part-Time Operations & Equipment Assistant Position Available!
Location: Somerset, Kentucky - Kentucky Trailer Rentals
Current Projected Schedule: Saturdays - 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
(Additional hours may be available.)
Evenings Part-Time are an option as well...
Pay: $15.00–$20.00 per hour
(Based on experience and mechanical ability)
Position Overview:
Kentucky Trailer Rentals is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a **Part-Time Operations & Equipment Assistant**. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, helping customers, and taking pride in keeping equipment in excellent condition.
This role is much more than simply renting trailers. You'll play an important part in maintaining our rental fleet, serving customers, keeping our property organized, and helping our business continue to grow. Every day is different, and we're looking for someone who enjoys variety and takes initiative without needing constant direction.
As the business grows, this position has excellent opportunities for additional hours, increased responsibilities, and long-term advancement.
--Primary Responsibilities--
Trailer Rental Operations
* Assist customers with trailer rentals and returns.
* Process reservations and rental agreements through our online rental system.
* Check trailers in and out accurately.
* Verify customer paperwork and rental documentation.
* Answer customer questions and provide excellent customer service.
Trailer Inspection & Maintenance
* Perform routine safety inspections before and after each rental.
* Inspect:
* Trailer lights and wiring
* Electric brakes and brake controllers
* Tires and tire pressure
* Wheel bearings (basic inspections)
* Couplers, safety chains, breakaway systems, and hitches
* Winches, ramps, jacks, and tie-down equipment
* Perform basic repairs and maintenance as needed.
* Identify larger mechanical issues and communicate them promptly.
* Keep trailers clean, organized, and ready for the next customer.
Equipment & Property Care
* Maintain trailer toolboxes and ensure all required tools and accessories are present.
* Organize straps, chains, binders, and towing accessories.
* Wash trailers when needed.
* Keep the rental yard clean, organized, and professional.
* Maintain the office, shop, and surrounding property.
* Assist with mowing, cleanup, pressure washing, snow removal (if needed), and general handyman projects.
* Help prepare newly purchased trailers and equipment for service.
Storage Facility Operations
* Assist customers with storage unit rentals.
* Show available units when needed.
* Check vacant units.
* Sweep and clean units between tenants.
* Help monitor the property for cleanliness and appearance.
* Assist with minor maintenance projects around the storage facilities.
General Business Support
Every week brings something different. Additional duties may include:
* Running local errands
* Picking up parts and supplies
* Delivering or moving equipment
* Assisting with small projects
* Helping organize inventory
* Assisting with business improvements
* Occasional travel to other properties or job sites
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who:
* Is mechanically inclined (trailer, automotive, farm equipment, or general repair experience is preferred)
* Can troubleshoot problems and enjoys fixing things
* Is dependable, honest, and self-motivated
* Has strong customer service skills
* Is comfortable using computers and learning online software
* Can lift approximately 50 pounds
* Maintains a clean, organized work environment
* Takes initiative and stays productive without constant supervision
* Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
* Can safely tow trailers
