For the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the General Manager for a High Volume Import Dealership in Northern California.

​It’s one thing to recruit for the automotive industry; it’s another thing entirely to be responsible for the P&L, the culture, and the customer experience of a dealership.

​My three biggest takeaways from the GM chair:
1. ​The "Soft Skill" Gap: In 2026, technical ability is a baseline. The real winners are the ones who can navigate the digital-to-showroom transition seamlessly.

2. ​Retention is the new Recruitment: If your onboarding isn’t as strong as your hiring, you’re just pouring water into a leaky bucket.

3. ​Speed to Hire is Killing Margins: Waiting 3 weeks for the "perfect" candidate often costs more in lost opportunity than the hire itself.

​Now that this project has successfully concluded, I am officially returning to my recruiting roots at AutoCareerPro, but with a much sharper lens.
