In the late 1950's (when having a hot rod meant that you built it from the ground up) Charlie Serra, the founder of TRC, started building engines and modifying carburetors / fuel systems for his own race cars. Eventually his personal edge in performance sparked the interest of friends and peers alike who would then rely on Charlie’s expertise to get their rides running in tip top shape. Through th
e years Charlie has been involved behind the scenes in the development of many different types of modified carburetors. This includes the most revolutionary carburetor to date, the High-Flow, which was originally designed for NASCAR usage alone. In 1981, following decades of r&d on many forms of performance vehicles the family started Total Racing Components and developed carburetors for most of the top named race teams as form of business, but this didn’t change the fact that each customer would be treated as a friend not just a name on an invoice. With not much advertisement aside from word of mouth the business quickly caught fire and this was due to the family type basis created amongst TRC customers. As quoted from one customer, "If you don't have a TRC carburetor you might as well stay home". TRC went on to continue developing many different stages of modified carburetors as well as cylinder heads, intake manifolds and camshafts. These intricately created pieces remained popular within many different fields; including the basic street performance scene, drag racing, all levels of circle track competition, marine, “puller” trucks and off road 4 x 4 vehicles. Through the years, the crew at Total Racing Components has continued to grow and move forward using countless hours of testing. This has lead to the development of new carburetors and engine components nearly annually and this research won’t be stopping anytime soon. The result of having our in house race team along with constant communication with many of our customers has been quintessential in our success. These racers have been track champions, not to mention divisional, and or national champions in many different forms of racing once they made the switch and we hope you’re the next to get your taste of victory with TRC power. With over 40 years creating custom modified carburetors and racing components, we are still working to be the leading edge in performance technology. So for your next modified carburetor, fuel system, or performance component give TRC a call.
