All Dion International personnel in our superior network of service facilities must become proficient at providing customers with new or expanded transportation services such as full-maintenance leasing, truck rental, contract maintenance, fleet management, Class 3, 4 import trucks, on-off highway trailers, yard tractors, wrecker and other specialized bodies, transportation consulting, and finance and insurance sales. Dion early in 1982 following Mr. Dion's retirement from International Harvester Company where he served for 25 years in a variety of progressively more responsible sales, marketing, and executive positions. Dion purchased the factory branch operation effective March 1, 1982. The business had been in continuous operation in San Diego since 1942. Dion International was a charter member of the Idealease organization, entering the leasing and rental business in the fall of 1982. In 1985, Dion purchased the only other International truck dealer in the county], BBS Truck & Equipment Company in Escondido, CA. In 1987, Dion expanded to three locations by purchasing the assets of Oceanside Truck Center in Oceanside, CA. In 1993, the Oceanside satellite dealership was closed and merged with the Escondido operation. In 1995, Dion moved from Escondido to nearby San Marcos in favor of a newer, larger, better-located facility. Another new location, in San Diego's Miramar area, was opened in 2010. In late 2010, Dion Defense was created as a part of the Navistar Defense network to provide parts for armored and unarmored vehicles for the U.S. military. Dion International's primary areas of responsibility are San Diego and Imperial Counties in Southern California.
