We had another amazing trip to help out our friends of Port Aransas yesterday. Although our time was short we were able to donate approximately another $500 worth of very specific items that were in immediate need of the community. I plan on updating the progress of our experiences and share some fun stories.

UNTIL THEN... Did anyone else realize that the satellite view of Google Maps has been updated very recently after the hurricane? This still doesn't give the full experience of putting your boots on the ground, but it's a perspective that is still haunting. As piles are hauled off more replace them. This is a pretty accurate display of all the destruction that is still being taken care of today to Rebuild Port Aransas Texas..

But seriously. It's been a really long week, and ya'll rocked it!!!

We're all loaded up and ready to head Southbound from San Antonio with so many more things tomorrow morning. I'm grateful for everyone's support and all of the donations that helped make this a possibility for us. It gave me chills walking out to the truck this afternoon with building supplies instead of more cleaning supplies. Although it's obvious that the cleanup is still in full force, it was exciting to get the order for building supplies and tools this week. I literally had chills walking through the Lowes parking lot to my truck this afternoon when this thought crossed my mind.

I have no idea what this weekend has in store for us, but (situation depending) I plan on doing my best to take you all along for the ride. It feels like a completely different world when you're in the thick of it, and I hope to do my best to portray exactly what is going on while we are down there helping to Rebuild Port Aransas Texas!

Round 2 loaded up in San Antonio!

From what I've been hearing and seeing, things are moving well in Port Aransas. Large ammounts of debris are beginning to be hauled off, electricity is being restored to more people every day and the thoughts of rebuilding and repairing is on the horizon for many of the Islanders as they continue to collect themselves after Harvey/

We couldn't be more thankful of every single contribution to this cause. Y'all have allowed us to gather a great collection of supplies and tools to take back down to help many people in need. Here's today's haul minus tomorrow's weekly stop at Lowe's Home Improvement to get a couple more things on our list.

Our plan is to once again pack up the truck and head down early Sunday morning with everything and go from there. There are still many opportunities to help across the entire Gulf Coast at this point. My best advice is to ask as many specific questions about who and how to help (some areas are flooded with insignificant items while others close by don't have enough. Take the time to research who needs what.). There are so many amazing people that are doing an awesome job to keep us all up to date with the specific updates, and they are all happy to answer any questions you may have.

There's still time and a little bit of room for this trip if you have anything for us to take, and there is no shortage on labor if you have the ability to make it down yourself. If so, please stay safe, find out where to check in, and remember it's a dangerous area. It's hard to think safety when all you want to do is help fast.

I have a lot to say about our experience yesterday, but first off I'd like to share this.

If you can't donate your time you can send your lunch money here! EATS opened their doors to feed and entertain those that have lost it all. We've seen it first hand.

We didn't get to stop in yesterday while helping out, but just passing by and seeing people hanging out on the patio with some good food, music and drinks was so inspiring.

After all of their sacrifices and efforts to open their doors to anyone, someone still had the nerve to take what was free and steal from the mouths of those in need. Just as heartbreaking, they stole from the hands of those that feel responsible for giving back to repay those affected within their community. (Hopefully their actions were justified in some way, and this was not a completely selfish act)

Although this post is, this fund is not about what happened to EAT'S last night, but to help support their continued efforts to Rebuild Port Aransas Texas

Send them your lunch money, every dollar helps and will go towards feeding many islanders during the times that they don't have as much support from the mainland! This is real life, and these are real people helping real people in need.
