Tip of the Day

When you’re shopping for a 68RFE, 47RE, 48RE, or honestly any automatic transmission…
There is no such thing as a “brand-new” unit.

All transmission companies — big names or small shops — are working off core units. Those cores get rebuilt to whatever level or spec that builder offers. That’s it.

Over the years I’ve seen a ton of people get misled into thinking buying a “new” transmission is somehow better than rebuilding their own.
Truth is: it’s the exact same process.
You’re still taking a used core, disassembling it, replacing wear items, machining components if needed, and upgrading parts based on the build level.

So when you compare “new vs rebuild,” just remember:
✔️ There is no difference
✔️ It all comes down to the builder, the parts used, and the quality control behind it
