A green light doesn’t mean GO!
It means you’re allowed to proceed. Check to see if your intersection is clear before entering it because you’re the only person that can control your actions.
Look Left, Front, Right before going.

In Oregon we must stop before a sidewalk when emerging from an alley, building, private road, or driveway.
Look for people using the sidewalk. If there is no one using the sidewalk then you may pull forward to get a better view before turning onto the road.

Green arrows should be your favorite traffic light!

You get a protected turn, meaning oncoming traffic has a red light and pedestrians aren’t allowed to cross. The only other vehicles moving through the intersection may be those coming from the opposite direction with their own green arrow.

This driver has to be on drugs or has been drinking alcohol. Usually your first instinct when making an error is to correct it. This driver proceeds to drive down the sidewalk and hits the bus and keeps driving. Stay Safe Salem!

PSA Salem: Your residential street speed limits are dropping to 20 mph. Starting in 2027 you will see new signs going up on those road with 20 mph signs.

This is a win for everyone. Pedestrians, bicyclists, and cars. It’s really going to be okay driving a little slower to be a little safer.

In 2024, 22,713 passenger vehicle occupants were killed. Nearly 50% of those killed were not buckled (based on known seat belt use).

Seat belts saved an estimated 14,955 lives and could have saved an additional 2,549 people if they had been wearing seat belts, in 2017 alone.

The consequences of not wearing, or improperly wearing, a seat belt are clear.
