When your brake light comes on and you notice your brake fluid is low that is a good sign that you need brake pad replacement. When the fluid is not in the reservoir it’s in the lines because your pads are worn.

So if you notice your fluid is low and haven’t seen in leaking it’s likely you need pad replacement.

When your brake fluid is low it usually means you need to replace your brake pads. As brake pads wear down, they become thinner and must be pushed farther to make contact with the rotor. The thinner the brake pads, the more brake fluid it takes to fill the calipers and squeeze the brake pads. So if your brake light comes on for low fluid that is a indication to check (or have checked) your brake pads.

Replacing pads before they are worn all the way down can save you money. This rotor not only broke apart but it lost part of it somewhere. The rotor on this broke apart and kept the seized caliper from locking that wheel up. The caliper on this vehicle also had to be replaced.
