The gsxr1000 I started the reassembly on a few days ago ran into a snag. One of the locator pins for the transmission was missing when I disassembled it. I had overlooked ordering a new one, so I turned a new one out of a scrap piece of 4140 I had laying in the bin to be gotten rid of. It's back together and running now, and shes ready for the break in period to seat the rings and confirm overall function. The fairings are going to stay off until the very last step. This bike got a full overhaul on the engine. It has a fresh top and bottom end, with rings, pistons, rods, bearings, valve grind, valve seals, a new clutch with steels, fibers, springs, and bearings. The owner noted he had an issue with first gear popping out so the transmission got disassembled and inspected. A set of new bearings and adjusting the gear side clearance fixed that problem along with the new pin I had to make. Elsewhere it got a new drive chain, sprockets, and battery. The brake hydraulics have been gone through on the front and rear, with new pads coming today, and the forks serviced. Once I get it broken in and the new fairings on this will be a new bike on an old frame.
