This was a bit of a weird one. I showed up to a 1966 Beetle that was running poorly. I found a spark plug wire disconnected, but once that was hooked up and timing set it was still running a bit funny. Then I noticed this hole in the carburetor. Apparently it's not uncommon for a strong backfire to dislodge the plug that belongs there and then there's a big vacuum leak. We explored a few options. Apparently it's the perfect size for a dime, and a lot of the guys in the forums were suggesting a dime and some JB weld to close it up more permanently. I opted for a piece of rubber hose and a bolt. Sealed it right up, and drives great again.
