Hey guys, here with another . When having repairs done to your vehicle by a shop or mechanic you don't know, always make sure to do the following:
1. Get a written and signed quote prior to allowing your vehicle to be worked on. Mechanics who aren't willing to give a written quote either don't know what they are doing or are looking to take advantage of unwary customers.
2. Require your authorization for any repairs above what was agreed upon in the quote. Occasionally, additional repairs will be discovered once work is started on your vehicle, but make sure they require your approval prior to proceeding with the repair.
3. Always ask for your old parts back after repairs are completed. It's your property and you're entitled to it and that's to make sure the repairs that were made had to be made. The exceptions to this are when there's a 'core charge' on a part and the old part has to be sent back to the supplier, or if the law requires specific disposal procedures for a part. Always make sure to see the part if either of those apply.
and don't fall victim to the scams and schemes that give the automotive repair industry a black eye!
