Decided to dabble in a little Mini Z racing tonight at HobbyTown. Haven’t ran the car since sometime in May. Car felt good other than the steering issue I was facing. Which is a bummer but at the end of the day this car is still rocking the 2 year old electronics that have endured a beating. It looks like a new servo is in this little cars future. Not sure when the car will return but it felt good to be back!

🏎️🏎️ Weekend Recap 🏎️🏎️

Thursday, August 14th - Points night

I can’t remember what was happening but it wasn’t very good. DNF in heat #1. Much better in heat #2. And then DNF in the B main. 🤦🏻

Saturday, August 16th - Day #1 of Nitro Series

Originally scheduled to run 3 rounds of heat races, Mother Nature had other plans. After downpouring pretty good for a while in the morning, the first race got delayed 7 hours or so to allow the track time to dry, and for the track crew to work the track in. For time restrictions we settled for running only 2 rounds of heats. The track was full of character. Really rough and heavy so driving on this sort of a surface was a learning curve. Unfortunately I was having car problems which resulted in a late start for me in heat number 1. The second heat was much better, but still not ideal.

Sunday, August 17th - Day #2 of Nitro Series

Main day! Due to the incredible talent and my poor driving the day before I rolled off 5th in the D main with the top 3 bumping to the C. Still fighting the car a little bit but overall a really good race for me. I finished 2nd and bumped to the C. The C main was a great learning experience as well resulting in a 9th place finish and the end of my weekend.

Overall it was quite enjoyable, congratulations to all my fellow racers who podiumed! Now I get the car all washed up and gone through for tomorrow nights LSRCC points night.

And a massive shoutout to the amazing marketing partners of Team Backyard Racing! Without you guys this wouldn’t be possible!

Longer post warning. Worth the read!

As is tradition, I have forgotten to post updates again. The last few weeks have been pretty good I would say.I missed out on most of the State Championship races due to being a Flagman. I was lucky enough to make my last Qualifier and did good. I started 5th and finished 2nd in the B main with the winner bumping to the A. The last few Thursday night points races have been going smoothly as well. Still learning a lot and getting better every week. This last Thursday I was running solid in the A main but unfortunately suffered catastrophic failure to the chassis of the car after landing a jump wrong resulting in a DNF. Friday night I swapped all of the electronics from the main car to my back up car so I could race the 2025 Summer Sizzler yesterday. The car was mad fast and felt great in the heat races. I qualified 3rd in the A main. I got my very first win in A main number 1 since they were running two features. In doing so the motor shaft sustained a gnarly bend and was causing significant binding in the drivetrain. Not having any other options I decided to make an attempt at running the second A main. The car still felt fast and was running good for what had occurred. Unfortunately we had our run cut short due to hitting one of the pipes and that impact spot happen to have a nail there and took out the right front A arm. Which sucks but that’s part of racing. I will regroup this week and get the car ready for Thursday. As always I would like to thank Proctor Pizza and Subs for their continued support to not only my racing program, but Team Backyard Racing as a whole. So thank you guys for all you do for us!!

Thanks for reading, and I’ll try and do better at updating.

A little late on the recap but here’s how Tuesdays race at Hibbing went!

First off I’d like to say that the Iron Range Racing Club has a very beautiful facility and one I will be racing at this upcoming Tuesday!

Not having run an oval dirt race yet with the Modified I decided to keep the set up from the carpet oval race that took place this past winter. And unfortunately I could get the car to turn at all under power. By intermission and the help of many wonderful people we made a little bit of progress. I ultimately took a bunch of steering out and that was the winning ticket. By the feature I was starting dead last in the C main and although the car could turn, it was a very tacky track and we were fighting traction rolling issues. Thankfully all the guys were super helpful in giving me more set up tips and things to try for next week. So I will be making those changes and trying it again on Tuesday!

6/12 Proctor KME Speedway results

🔴 Heat 1st-3rd
🔴 Feature 7th-11th

Had a fast race car all night! Unfortunately we were collected in a wreck early in the feature race that caused the right front to go down. Thankfully we were able to switch tires and finish the race to come away with some points! Thank you to everyone that helped me last night in the work area I really appreciate it!

Weekend plans are still undecided with the weather and some damage to the car.
