FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A Phoenix Legacy Continues: Hi-Tech Car Care Passes the Keys to Martin's Auto Repair

Two of Phoenix’s most trusted, award-winning NARPRO family shops carry a tradition of excellence forward

PHOENIX (May 29, 2026) — After more than seven decades of award-winning service in the Phoenix community, Hi-Tech Car Care owner Jim Garnand is closing the doors on his family’s storied shop, with his final day of operations set for May 29, 2026. Garnand is personally recommending Martin’s Auto Repair, located at 3636 N. 16th St. in Phoenix, as his shop of choice for the drivers who trusted Hi-Tech for years.

The move unites two of Phoenix’s most decorated independent auto repair families. Hi-Tech Car Care, founded in 1948 by Otis Garnand and carried through three generations to Jim, built its reputation as a consistent AAA Top Shop Award winner for more than two decades, an ASE Blue Seal facility and the first certified Green Business in the auto repair industry in Phoenix.

Martin’s Auto Repair, in operation since 1971 and now led by second-generation owner David Martin, holds a Quality Business Award ranking of No. 1 — voted “The Best Mechanic in Phoenix” with a quality score above 95 percent.
Both shops are long-standing members of NARPRO (Neighborhood Auto Repair Professionals), the statewide network that recommends only independent, family-owned Arizona shops that have passed 26 rigorous evaluations covering certifications, customer service, facilities management and community service.

“There is no one I trust more with my customers than David Martin,” said Jim Garnand, third-generation owner of Hi-Tech Car Care. “We’ve both built our reputations the same way — by doing right by people, every single time. My customers have been family to me, and I know David will treat them exactly the same way.”

“Jim and Hi-Tech Car Care represent exactly what independent, family-owned auto repair is supposed to look like, which is integrity, longevity and a genuine connection to the community,” said David Martin, owner of Martin’s Auto Repair. “We are honored by his trust, and we will take care of every customer he sends our way.”

Former Hi-Tech Car Care customers can learn more about Martin’s Auto Repair directly at www.martinsautorepair.com.

Hi-Tech Car Care’s departure leaves the NARPRO network with three remaining recommended shops serving the greater Phoenix area: Martin’s Auto Repair, 3636 N. 16th St., Phoenix; Knudsen’s Auto Specialists, 12804 N. 19th Ave., Phoenix; and Good Works Auto Repair, 2348 E. Broadway Rd., Tempe. Drivers can find contact information and directions for all three shops at www.NARPRO.com.
