For Sale - 1966 Land Rover Series IIA - $42,000 OBO
This is a stunning example of a classic Series IIA Land Rover, with its original charm. It's an extremely reliable daily driver, and by British standards it is exceptional indeed. It has the original 2.25L gas engine, which has been overhauled (.030 over) and runs remarkably well. The upgraded 2 barrel carburetor and air intake provide an additional touch of power up hills and on highways. Vintage Land Rovers do not have a reputation for speedway cruising, but this Series IIA will comfortably do 65 mph. A few hours on the highway to get to your favorite off-road trail is not an issue whatsoever. This truck comes alive on the trail, where it was designed to be driven and enjoyed. Selectable 4x4, with free locking hubs, high-low transfer case, and 4.71 diffs, give you enough low end to traverse the trail as you desire. This is not a showroom truck, the paint shows some very minor wear (some chips and cracks), it has minor oil leaks (well within spec for vintage British vehicles), and it presents very well, is mechanically rock solid, and is remarkable in how it handles going down the road.

Highlights:
Overhauled engine - bored over .030, polished crank, new cam, new timing chain assembly, machined head, new alternator, new electric fuel pump, new intake and exhaust manifolds

New exhaust
New alternator
New wipers

the maiden offroad adventure in the 1966 Series IIA Land Rover. It drives incredibly well, fully capable on the trails, and the finely-tuned 2.25 gas engine will go 67-70mph on the highway (no overdrive). Plus, it only leaks enough oil to let you know it has oil 😁

rebuilt gearbox for the 86" Series 1. real oil seals were used for the selector shafts instead of the standard o-rings, which always leak like crazy. Drives much better, and the gearbox is within land rover spec for leaking: needs to be checked often, topped up weekly, cleaned regularly, and make sure you don't park on your friend's driveway.
