These crane truck kits have taken far longer to figure out than all previous kits. The N scale test today is straight into the garbage due to more peel force issues. Meanwhile, the HO scale kit is almost flawless; however, still suffers from peel force issues. The best bit of news is that separating the flatbed from the cab and its extreme angle really paid off! That's actually for both scales.

Also this weekend: waiting for the next round of quality assurance test prints to come out for the N and HO scale trolley crane truck kits. While those were printing, I finished up the next new model; a 22' flatbed truck. This kit features 2 options for wooden stake sides or a clean flat deck with tie downs strap reels. The tailgate can be posed open or closed.

Beem a busy week at VALT! The N Scale DI refurbish parts kits came out great and worked perfectly. Waiting to see if these go out to market. Maybe other folks need spare or replacement parts for those model trailers.

Been working on a custom order for exact copies of Deluxe Innovations semi trailer parts.

A little bit of cleanup to do because I was rushing like crazy, but it's basically ready for primer and paint. Even this failed print turned out really nice. It will eventually get paint and weathering and then who knows. Round 2 test prints will hopefully have everything squared away and ready for market.

Might get to tackle the HO scale model tomorrow night.

And there you go, that easy to get tbe supports off and start assembling your model.

Helpful safety tip: watch out for random fingers on the other side of your models.....

To my caring wife: don't worry dear, it only hurt until it didn't.

Look, got those supports off stupid easy without breaking the mirrors off... YES YOU CAN HAVE CRAZY ACCURATE DETAIL WITHOUT- ... I don't know, but all that stuff other printers say is impossible....
Anyways, I draw ALL of my own supports. I don't rely on having a computer tell me where and what needs support or have to deal with their predefined rules of supporting models. These are drawn by a modeler that wants everyone to be able to have detailed products and not settle for chunky versions of what they really wanted. Use a knife to cut the finest support away from the model and then get in there with those nippers and clear that forest out!
I've been at it maybe an hour, but I'm stopping to study the print and take photos and talk smack to myself hahaha! And posting gives you a rough timeline of the work tonight.
Note how little cleanup is left to do on the parts once removed. If I'd slow down a bit, I might take them off clean.

Both the N & HO scale Peterbilt Trolley Crane kits suffered the same problem: peel force from the support bed thickness and the thickness of the flatbed. Note the horizontal line running through support frame causing the small parts to be shrunken or misprint and also right through the lower cab area making all details above that line fall slightly out of register. Not a total loss. I did learn exactly how small my printer will print - you can see the smallest details in the diamond plate and on the crane. I've already made some adjustments and will make a few more before the 2nd round of testing. For now, I'm going to build up at least one of each of these scales to see how the kit functions in this poor state.

This is why quality control and test printing are so very important!!! VALT is expanding into O Scale with our first little kit, the yard mule. All the great details and axel options, now A LOT bigger (1/48 scale). Unfortunately, the first test print is a failure due to peel force. Note the horizontal line running across the model causing a jog in the fuel cells and front wheels. Adjustments to make and then round 2 test printing next week. Shame really... that was the ONLY problem. Almost a hole in one! Two of these test prints came out identical, but I'm going to paint them up anyway and see if anyone wants them later at a heck of a discount price.

And here's the parallel project to the crane truck - a standard 22' flatbed with optional parts to create a wooden stake side with tailgate. The tail gate will be movable on this one. Hopefully I'll be test printing this kit alongside the crane truck and will be able to update by end of the weekend - fingers crossed for back to back wins!
