A sloppy shifter on an air-cooled VW usually comes down to one worn-out part: the shift rod bushing.

Our Snap-Lock bushing is CNC-machined here in Orange from virgin Delrin. It holds its size where rubber compresses and nylon swells with heat, so your shifter feels the same in year ten as it does on day one.

- Snaps into the hanger. No retainer clip, no safety wire. Push it in until it clicks.
- Virgin Delrin: 11,000 PSI tensile, 450,000 PSI compressive modulus
- A touch of dry graphite l**e and you're done
- Designed and machined in-house. It's our flagship shifter part.

Fits Beetle 1960-79 (swing axle and IRS), Karmann Ghia 1960-74, Bus 1950-66, Type 3 1962-73 and Thing 1973-74, plus buggies and kit cars on a standard VW hanger. If your hanger is distorted, replace that first (we sell those too).

Original German pedal cluster, rebuilt in Orange and better than new.

Reproduction pedal assemblies don't fit or hold up like the German originals. What actually wears out on a 50-year-old cluster is the pivot bushings, the steel accelerator roller and the roller arm. So we replace or upgrade those and keep the German castings.

What every one gets:
- Full teardown, every part checked for wear, cracks and straightness
- German base castings v***r honed to bare satin metal (not painted)
- Pedal arms powder coated black
- New bushings pressed into the pivot, no more slop
- Wider clutch pedal for a bigger, surer footprint
- Fortified accelerator roller arm that resists bending
- Self-lubricating Delrin roller: quiet, and it won't wear and drag like steel
- Reassembled and worked through full travel before it ships

Fits Beetle, Karmann Ghia and Type 3. Early and late clusters aren't interchangeable, so send us your year and model (or a photo of your pedals) and we'll confirm the right one.

Now Open: Washburn’s Parts. 🏁


We are officially inviting the public to visit our new walk-in parts store in Orange County. We specialize in air-cooled Volkswagen and Porsche components, offering a selection of OEM refurbished German parts and quality aftermarket options. We are also an authorized EMPI dealer, helping us provide a more complete range of parts for your projects.

Visit the Showroom: Our lobby is designed for enthusiasts to browse parts in person. While you’re here, feel free to check out the current projects through our shop viewing windows. If you have any technical questions, our staff is available to help you find exactly what you need.

Saturday: Half Day (Morning)
